Ruth I prefer my Kindle because it is much lighter and my hand doesn't get tired when I read for long periods of time. It is a very plain one, so my iPad is great for audio books and pictures

message 302: by Ruth (last edited Aug 13, 2012 10:01AM) (new)

Ruth I do have the Kindle app on my iPad, but I regret not buying a newer type Kindle instead of spending all that money on an iPad. I am retired and don't travel that much so I have no need for an iPad really. Would have been much happier with a more advanced Kindle.

message 303: by Emily (new)

Emily Love my Kindle Touch!!!! I really tried to read on my iPad. It was a no go for me....

message 304: by [deleted user] (new)

my kindle touch

message 305: by Lynsey (new)

Lynsey Passmore iPad is easier to use but definitely the Kindle. If I look too long at the screen on my iPad my eyes absolutely kill me!

message 306: by Chris (new)

Chris Jessica wrote: "I love my Nook (: And when this one goes, I'll be buying another (:"

Agreed, Jessica...and Sally! Much better reader, better rated, and easier to use than Kindle...mine is the Simple Touch...but eventually I will get the new Glowlight...

message 307: by Angelamonique (new)

Angelamonique Definitely prefer my Kindle over my iPad; however, iPad is good for a book that has pictures...

message 308: by Debs (new)

Debs Had a Kindle keypad (but someone stole it on a train - bereft to say the least) also have an iPad (too big)and Android tablet (too bright although I like the features on Kindle app) - but Kindle by far a better read. Getting another one soon as I can afford it.

message 309: by Debs (new)

Debs Luckily found a brand new kindle keypad for sale at carbooty last Sunday for 1/3 cost - so so so happy to be reading on the kindle again - life is good!

message 310: by Susan (last edited Aug 26, 2012 05:04AM) (new)

Susan Books: Nook Touch with the internal glow light. iPad: Magazines and daily news. iPad too heavy if reading time is extended. Gave away my Kindle; clunky, disorganized. Prefer iBook store over all others. Apple has their act together.

message 311: by Carole (new)

Carole Yeaman i-Pad & Kobo. Prefer Kobo for weight & size (pop in my pocket if I'm going somewhere outside the house)& outdoor reading. But usually use iPad cuz it's got all my magazines, etc. on it.

message 312: by Sharon (last edited Sep 08, 2012 12:33AM) (new)

Sharon I am an iPad fan for everything and more and more delighted in the interactive magazines. But when I leave the house it is a pure convenience and delight to be able to continue reading my current novel on either iBook, eBook, kindle, kobo, all on my iPhone totally sync'd with my iPad. And indeed all my apple devices. Find myself reading more often on my iPhone as it is light and handy and lighting great too. And find I download and read much more from the ibook store than the others. Better price and availability IMO. Surprised with this added bonus switching totally from windows to APPLE all the way. :-). Everything in the house including music on the Cloud. Perfect! We spent the afternoon on the beach this week and I did not have a book but pulled out my iPhone 4 and finished off my current novel to the delightful concert of waves from the sea! Again perfect!

message 313: by Thyrza (new)

Thyrza I love my Kindle!!!

message 314: by Robin (new)

Robin Jordan I like my Kindles because I can get free book with Amazon Prime. Most are trivial, but there are some good ones.

message 315: by Vanesa (new)

Vanesa I'm looking on goodreads on my kindle fire.

message 316: by Juanita (new)

Juanita Love my Nook color and it is so much more than ereader!

message 317: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer I had a 1st edition Kindle, and it crapped out on me last summer. I had wanted an iPad, so I ended up getting one and used the Kindle app. I definitly prefer using the iPad!

message 318: by Victor (new)

Victor Marques I read on my iphone 4s (using the kindle app) at night. The ipad is too bright for me to read at night.

message 319: by Sheryl (new)

Sheryl Depends on the situation. I have a 1st Generation iPad which is heavy, but I read a lot in bed with it (the backlight is nice and the brightness is adjustable) and for travel, I only take my iPad since it's such a multi-function device. However, I got a Nook Simple Touch to take with me daily or for a lazy afternoon in the park because my iPad is too heavy (and expensive) to take with me everywhere and I can't see my iPad in the daylight. I think if I had a Nook with the backlight (the newer B&W one), it would be easier on the eyes at night and could come with my daily. I love that I can get library books on either device!

message 320: by [deleted user] (last edited Sep 09, 2012 11:38AM) (new)

Depends, however, the eReader is lighter and easier when I am waiting in line at the PO. iPad better for reading in bed.

message 321: by Christine (new)

Christine Started with iPad found it too heavy and horrible glare. Got a Kobo and LOVE it!

message 322: by [deleted user] (new)

My mom has an iPad and for her this is absolutely the right gadget because she needs large letters.

For myself I have been reading books on my old HP PDA on MobiReader for almost 10 years now and because I can comfortably read a normal sized font I muchly prefer my PDA which I can hold in one hand.

I also don't understand why people buy mp3 players and Kindles if you can just have these things on a smart phone (in my case my PDA, there were no smart phones back then...).

message 323: by Maegan (new)

Maegan Kindle fire ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

message 324: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Waldron love my kindle!!!

message 325: by Bob (new)

Bob Kindle is great.

message 326: by Noran (new)

Noran Miss Pumkin nook tablet vs samsung-samsung wills with ease!

message 327: by Chris (new)

Chris Methinks Kindle is in trouble...early press is very impressed:

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/nook/...

message 328: by Elsie (new)

Elsie If you read mostly during the day, recommend the Kindle. If you read mostly at night, recommend the iPad. Just remember that you can't read the LED display on the iPad in broad daylight unless you're in the shade. A reading light is necessary for the Kindle since it's not illuminated (backlit).

message 329: by Lesley (new)

Lesley Much prefer my Nook. It's smaller and lighter. I can carry it in my purse and any time I'm in a line I just pull it out and continue with my current boo, IPad is too big to carry around constantly. I think there is no doubt that the serious reader would prefer an e-reader, whether it's the Nook, Kindle, or other. IPad is great for other stuff

message 330: by Chris (new)

Chris The newly announced Nook HD and Nook HD+ plus is going to outmatch and outclass the Kindle in a VERY big way...

message 331: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Marin I would prefer my kindle fire over my ipad because it has more books that I like.

message 332: by Aisha (new)

Aisha Kindle of course! :D Better for the eyes and better battery and faster download of books!

message 333: by Sharon (new)

Sharon iBook Kindle Kobo eBook on and on on ALL easily iPad downloaded in a whisper ...pre order works perfectly and all read well! However, iBook remains better price and availability IMO. Everything on iPad ...all APPs are adjustable. And sync to iPhone if you are out and need to read...right there with you in the palm of your hand. Perfection!

message 334: by Andrés (new)

Andrés Santiago Kindle for text, iPad for comics and graphic novels

message 335: by Tiki (new)

Tiki Only light reading on my iPad...since it's backlit and larger in size. IPhone in a pinch. But prefer one of my Kindles for serious reading. Have the kindle keyboard and have loved it... But just got the kindle Paperwhite and it's awesome!!

message 336: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Nik I had a Nook, but when I got the iPad, I gave it away. I vastly prefer the iPad.

message 337: by Maya (new)

Maya For reading novels, I much prefer my Kindle. I have the 2nd generation Kindle and while the iPad is more user friendly, I am quite comfortable using and navigating my Kindle and since I am using it to read I am a HUGE fan of the digital ink used. (I don't get headaches like I do with the iPad.) I guess what I have to say is that if a computer screen causes eye strain, fatigue, or headaches, I strongly suggest an e-reader that uses digital ink over an iPad for readers!

message 338: by Kandace (new)

Kandace Oder i prefer to have a i pad

message 339: by ascottreads (new)

ascottreads I find that my kindle touch is more convenient to bring anywhere since it's lighter and smaller in size. Because of the same reason, it's easier to hold for a long time while I'm reading.

message 340: by Laura (new)

Laura I love my Kindle 2. I have an iPad, but for reading a book, the Kindle is the best. No eye strain and no distractions such as e-mail and other apps. I am interested in the Kindle paper white. Does anyone know anything about that reader?

message 341: by Shahine (new)

Shahine Ardeshir Kindle ANY day!!!! :)

message 342: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Thinking of getting the brand new mini iPad. Just as a reader but to have rest handy too.

message 343: by Akshay (new)

Akshay I actually have just an iPad, don't have another reader.
Both my regular books and digital comics I read on it and so far am more than satisfied at the ease of use and readability.

message 344: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Nicole wrote: "I prefer my Kindle. I can read on my Kindle or send books to my Iphone that I buy for my Kindle. I will never buy a Ipad. I have my Iphone, my computer and if I buy anything else it would be a netb..."

Use my iPhone when out and about and as everything ...magazines, eBooks, iBooks, kindle and kobo all sync through the cloud to all my devices, iPod, iPad, iMac...I can read from where I left off anytime and anywhere. Plus. Could not imagine being without iPad now and my husband is the same. It does it all for you. You pre order and download or buy from iPhone while browsing in a bookstore, because the prices are better on iBook store, walk into the house and your purchases sync with all other devices in the house via the cloud.....apple handles it for you. Perfectly.

message 345: by Chris (new)

Chris The Kindle Paperwhite is apparently delayed 4-6 weeks...for whatever reason..Simple Touch or the Simple Touch Glowlight is a better option, much better reviewed...

message 346: by Yummykits (new)

Yummykits And if I use a tablet, where I have to click? Yah, 'cause a tablet and an iPad it's not the same word. Hope you've learned something.

message 347: by Sandy (new)

Sandy I love the IPAD, but I wish the battery would last longer. I have a Kindle app on my IPAD; therefore, I have the best of both worlds

message 348: by Gigi (new)

Gigi I have a Nook, Kindle and iPad. iPad wins, hands down. The screen is easiest to read, it is the fastest download, I like the lighted screen option the best and I like being able to pick and choose from all available ebook formats, which iPad currently supports

message 349: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Dunn Does anyone have a Nexus?

message 350: by Antonio (new)

Antonio Cynthia wrote: "Does anyone have a Nexus?"
Yep that's where all my reading gets done now. Sold my old PRS 600 and bought the basic model. Now I use it exclusively as an eReader
