Sue Definitely I love my Kindle. Today, I had a problem, where my battery was dead , no lights turned on(amber), and I called Amazon.ca. After less than 5 minutes on the phone, the amber light appeared, the Kindle turned on, and I have now fully charged my Kindle. Amazon has the BEST customer service! They could have just told me to buy a new Kindle, as it was purchased in 2010, but they didn't.

message 702: by Bette (new)

Bette Stanek I absolutely positively LoVe my Nook Color and Nook HDs!! They are so user friendly and the print is uber clear and easy on the eyes. I can read for hours and hours on it. I don't play many games or watch many movies on them, but the HD is the better for those. Battery life on both of them is great, 8-10 hours of constant use. They also recharge quickly.

message 703: by Eve (new)

Eve Interesting question. I have a mini IPad and a Kindle Paperwhite. Which I choose to read on depends on the type of material I'm reading. For regular fiction and some nonfiction, I prefer the Kindle due to its light weight. But, for books that include visuals, e.g. Knitting, crochet, travel, I much prefer the color rich mini IPad.

message 704: by Evelynn (last edited Dec 09, 2014 08:21PM) (new)

Evelynn Technically, I have an iPod, not an iPad, but I like that I can do more stuff on it at the same time than I could on just a plain Kindle. Now, the Kindle Fire, on the other hand, is very similar to an iPad in some respects. Basically, I like both. I just voted on the poll to get it off my Homepage. xP

message 705: by Lilkadykitty :) (new)

Lilkadykitty :) iPad. I have tried using a kindle reader and they have failed me. My iPad has lasted much longer than any of the kindle products have. I also love how now they have the app available so i can read on my phone or desktop. I love how the screen is bigger on the iPad so that way i can read it on its side and it be like an actual book. I feel as though you can do more with the iPad app than the kindle. I have not tried anything other than an iPad or kindle so I cant compare to nook/sony/etc.

message 706: by Luke (new)

Luke Reading for extended periods on any LCD screen begins to hurt my eyes and give me a headache. I can (and have) read for 12+ hours straight on an e-ink screen without any issues. I've had a Kindle Paperwhite since launch that I just replaced with a Voyage, and they're the best reading experiences I've ever had.

message 707: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I prefer reading on my Nook.

message 708: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Depends on what I'm reading. Comics/graphic novels - iPad, anything else - eReader

message 709: by Shannon (new)

Shannon Byrne I enjoy reading on my Kobo. I love my iPad, but can't be bothered reading on it.

message 710: by Heather (new)

Heather Porter I love my Kindle Fire!!

Erika ♥OwlwaysReading♥ I love my iPad with Kindle app. Lots of my friends/family have either Kindle/Nook/Kobo/Sony/etc. I prefer the kindle app to the kindle device just because I like the touch screen better and the nighttime black background screen (easier on my eyes). The only thing that sux is that I CAN NOT read my books outside and the battery life, like all apple products, is pretty poor. With the Kindle device, you can actually see it while sunbathing (tested that theory out personally). I know its way more expensive… I think you can get a Kindle right now for $55 as appose to the super expensive apple product. However, I bought my iPad when I was a student in college and got a huge student discount.

Get an iPad while you can use ur student discount!!!!!

message 712: by Arminius (new)

Arminius The Nook is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 713: by Eileen (new)

Eileen I read on my Nook and love it!

message 714: by Adrian (new)

Adrian I definitely prefer my kindle to my iPad for reading. But, with the iPad I can use a programming book because the pictures are colored, so for books with color pictures, the iPad is easier to use. But, unfortunately, that is the only good thing about reading on an iPad.

elizabeth (yyaksok) I love my kindle paperweight because it has an e-ink screen as well as a backlight, so it doesn't hurt my eyes after a long time while I can read in the dark.

message 716: by Kirk (new)

Kirk I have both as well and when it comes to reading books I prefer to read on my Kindle Voyage or Paperwhite over my IPad or IPad mini. It isn't close. The Kindles are significantly lighter and don't strain my eyes. When it comes to reading magazines I use the IPads.

message 717: by Linda (new)

Linda Westphal I love my Kindle but read just as many hardcover and paperback books.

message 718: by Squire (new)

Squire I don't own either (though I do have the kindle app for my PC); I voted simply to get it off my GR homepage....

message 719: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Cavanagh While I voted 'e-reader', the true answer is 'it depends'.
If I am reading fiction, the Kindle wins hands down.
However if I am reading non-fiction and it has graphics or a lot of web-links I will use the Kindle-app on the iPad because I will get any graphics in colour and it is much easier to browse through the web-links.
If I want to search for a topic, the Kindle also wins.
I am using a Kindle that is several years old, and much loved.

message 720: by Clare (new)

Clare S-B Neither.... because I don't own either.

message 721: by megan (new)

megan iPad because I Google so much.

message 722: by Agatha (new)

Agatha I absolutely adore my kindle paperwhite. It's like reading with a book. I love it when I can carry my entire library with me one holiday without my bags being full of books.

message 723: by Becky (new)

Becky Kindle fire rocks, but I do still love holding an actual book from time to time. Awe memories...

message 724: by Lizpixie (new)

Lizpixie I love my kobo glo, I never read on my iPad, it hurts my eyes and gives me a headache.

message 725: by Leonard (new)

Leonard Makin On my kindle - the size seems correct somehow - in line
With a paperback.
It just feels comfortable

message 726: by Gene (new)

Gene Cheng Kindle. I like the way it copies a real book. Less stress on the eyes and enables you to carry a lot of books in one go. :)

message 727: by Laura (new)

Laura iPads aren't the only tablets out there. I like to read on my Nexus 2013, and I vehemently hate Apple so no chance of me with an iPad. Although, if it's sunny and I want to read outside, then the papery texture of a Kindle screen is nice.

message 728: by Vanshikha (new)

Vanshikha Vij iPad

message 729: by Grace (new)

Grace I LOVE my Kindle Fire!

message 730: by Judy (new)

Judy Collins I have (4) e-readers: the new Kindle Fire 10, iPad, Nook Glow Light, and Nook HD + Color. I like the Nook HD Color + the BEST for reading.

message 731: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Solano I prefer to read on my Ereader.

message 732: by Ang (new)

Ang I like both but I do seem to use the iPad more than the kindle

message 733: by Timewarp (new)

Timewarp I have a Galaxy tablet and I read on it and my laptop.

message 734: by Mira (new)

Mira I wouldn't trade my NOOK for anything else in the world. I've got just about every edition they have put out!

message 735: by laurawarhurst (new)

laurawarhurst My Kindle is my favourite possession!

message 736: by Cee (new)

Cee I like the iPad because of all the apps readi and otherwise. Just for books I have kindle, iBooks, 3M, Overdrive, Google books, and others for manga. I'm not sure if all Kindles can get these apps or not, my step-fathers can't. It just has Kindle so he can't get library books which are generally what I read.
All these apps offer different page colors and text types so, I'm not too sure of the difference. I'll have to check out the ereaders more I suppose....

message 737: by Joey (new)

Joey B. Kindle's paperwhite is my perfect companion. Lightweight, ultra portable, ridiculously long battery life, and you can read it in direct sunlight !! Great for summer reading at the beach or by the pool.

message 738: by Jeanne (new)

Jeanne Joe wrote: "Kindle's paperwhite is my perfect companion. Lightweight, ultra portable, ridiculously long battery life, and you can read it in direct sunlight !! Great for summer reading at the beach or by the p..."
I agree except for one problem, size. In order to increase print size to my comfortable reading level I can only get a few sentences on a page. With my 10 inch fire I can get several paragraphs on a page. It is a trade off for me, constant page turning or lighted background.
Actually I wish I could afford the 10 inch paperwhite!

message 739: by Teresa (new)

Teresa Just came across this poll and wanted to weigh in...I have a Kindle Fire and I use it only to read and store all my books. Only. I have no experience with any other reader. Although, I sometimes check out book titles on my Iphone.

message 740: by [deleted user] (new)

I like my Ipad compared to other things because I need to read .pdf, .ps, .dvi format also, which is not possible in Kindle or whatever reader we have in the market.

message 741: by Alba (new)

Alba Turunen I prefer my e-reader, I have my Papyre 6.1 since August in 2010, and it works perfectly today.

message 742: by Eileen (new)

Eileen I prefer my Nook over my Kindle Fire and read paperbacks at the beach.

message 743: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Higgins Definitely Kindle for the e-ink, with the single exception of reading comics. For whatever reason, even if its a black and white comic, I still prefer reading on an LED display.

message 744: by Leo (new)

Leo Since my original reply I’ve upgraded to a Kindle Oasis 2 and added a Kobo Aura One also.

message 745: by Audrey (new)

Audrey I have both, but the Kindle is a lot easier to read on. But I can switch between the two if I want, and it remembers my place.

message 746: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Faustina No no! I do not like reading books through a screen, it hurts my eyes!

message 747: by Marya (new)

Marya I use a Kindle Oasis (more confortable and definitely better for your eyes), except for comics & graphic novels —which are waaay much better on an iPad.

message 748: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Armistead Newman It depends on what I'm reading, where, and when. I generally read on my phone when I'm out and about. I read on my iPad if I'm out for an extended period. But if I'm at home, I read on my Kindle. But if I'm reading a children's book to my grandkids or a graphic novel for myself, I always use the iPad.

message 749: by Jill (new)

Jill Dobbe I prefer my kindle

message 750: by Bernie4444 (new)

Bernie4444 I use Kindle as it has Text-to-speak; if there is no Text-to-Speak, there is no electronic book.
