I would be more than happy to read Berlin Stories, even though I didn't vote for it. My problem, however, is that the book is not available in my part of the world until March.

I haven't checked on that Selena because I don't have an ereader and I don't want one either! I am radically pro-book!
Aaron wrote: "I see voting is closed, but I vote for Walser, definitely."It's a bit silly if voting is closed given that two books are tied and we don't need a result until February. Walser now has six anyway with your vote Aaron, so that should be the choice unless others are trying to vote too. My only problem with the Walser book is that it doesn't become available in book form until March, so it seems to me to be a premature choice, and there are two other Walser books in the back catalogue which could have been listed instead.
I've opened it up again to break the deadlock. Keep voting! If it is still a tie at the end of the week I'm going to break to cast the tie-braking vote myself, if people think thats fair. Not sure yet where to vote, loved Townsend Warner's Mr. Fortune, but also have never read any Walser and he has many fans.

If you have not been convinced to read the Walser, I recommend reading this to sway you, I just read it myself and was inspired:http://www.nybooks.com/books/imprints...
Here's another review of Walser's Berlin Stories from today's Book Review from The New York Times:http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/29/boo...

Thanks Mikki. Even better is that when I checked the Walser book at The Book Depository yesterday they no longer gave March 5th as the date of publication and so I was able to order it immediately. Another lovely book is on its way!
Great! I'm ordering mine tonight along with Lolly Willowes : Or the Loving Huntsman, Life and Fate, The Tenants of Moonbloom and I'm sure that I'll find a few more....always do!

Thanks a lot Selena and Anne. First of all I have to finish the January book! A tragic event, this past week, (the sort of death that should only happen in books) has meant that everything is out of kilter. But I do hope to catch up, just before the month comes to an end.
