I can't choose between Ariel and Jasmine; they're both so gorgeous!

Not true. Pocahontas was the chiefs daughter who was "KING" of his tribe.Tiana married prince Navid so she is a princess
Chief does not equal a king. Tiana is a princess by marriage. Both Mula and Pocahontas and some other girls are not princesses, but then again in Disneyland it's a traditon.

Closest equivalent early america had to royalty i suppose where p is concerned. I think mulan is considered a princess cause she married whats his face and was the emperors nephew grandson someething or other...i dunno i never really paid attn to mulan.
We should distinguish between the 'proper' use of the word princess and the Disney use of the word. In the 'proper' sense, only a few Disney princesses qualify--only European women who either marry a prince or are the daughter of a king. But (very fortunately) Disney has dispensed with the 'proper' restriction and instead presents their strong female leads as princesses from the get-go. Thus, Cinderella is a Disney princess not because she marries the prince but because she is very intelligent, supremely graceful, highly skilled, and of course beautiful. She's a princess from the start of the story. The Disney princess has changed over the years with social norms and customs. Thus Sleeping Beauty as the princess has changed into Merida as the princess--instead of an essentially passive woman waiting for her prince, we now find active, career-oriented women who take charge of their destinies. I'm glad to say, however, that my eight-year-old twin girls find them all entertaining and inspiring. And to me, that's what makes a real princess.

I hate to have to repeat what was just said, but chief does not equal king.
In their own culture, an Indian chief is not held to the same status that a king was in Europe. Pocahantas had the same status in her culture that Sasha and Malia Obama have in the US today.
Hercina wrote: "Mulan isn't princess."Although Mulan is neither of royal blood, nor married into royalty, she is officially a Disney princess. She was added to the princess line-up probably because of either the success of her movie or because Disney wanted an Asian role model for girls. I know, it's a bit annoying it took me a while to get over it, too.
Except that Tiana marries a prince...And Pocahontas is the daughter of an Indian chief, which is the highest level you can get in the Native American culture... so basically is considered a princess by our standards....

Technically Belle also marries a prince. The movie says he is "Once upon a time, in a faraway land, A young Prince lived in a shining castle" Hence Belle marries a prince, and she is a princess

Actually, Belle is, she married the Beast, who is a prince.
I think Aurora is the most beautiful. I don't think any of the newer princesses are beautiful, because they have huge eyes, which makes them look very unnatural. I like Walt's princesses with eyes much closer to realistic size. If we saw someone in real life with eyes in the same proportion to their face as the modern Disney princesses, I doubt any of us would think the person was beautiful.
Laura wrote: "Merida because she's beautiful on the outside and brave/beautiful on the inside too :D"I agree! Merida is beautiful... but her beauty isn't just skin deep. Most of the earlier Disney Princesses are very two dimensional.
Sooo tired of all the hype surrounding Belle and Ariel. Those are the only two i hear about. Belle has a whiny voice and i never found her look to be particularly beautiful, she's just pretty. Ariel is plain stupid, trading everything for a man she barely knows and acting like a brat. Hands-down, Aurora is the most beautiful, partly for the same reason someone else pointed out- her features are proportional , unlike the modern look of huge alien eyes, skinny necks and dinner-plate faces. She also has a killer figure, voluminous hair, violet eyes , royal grace, femininity, warmth, and the best singing voice of all the princesses put together. The way she is drawn is elegant and still looks good after all these years, whereas when you look at the animation of Disney movies made from the 1980's+ and the characters seem clumsy by contrast. And seriously....Merida over Cinderella?? Or Tiana?? You've got to be kidding me.
Pocahontas and Aurora, I'm sure they would be supermodels in real life. On the other side Belle is too average, nothing special about her.
I really honestly thought everybody would pick Rapunzel, but Aurora is almost the same person so that makes sense. And the Movie hype moved Belle to the top spot, tisk tisk.
Jacqueline wrote: "I can't choose between Ariel and Jasmine; they're both so gorgeous!"I think Jasmine is gorg.
I believe that Jasmine is the most beautiful princess. Her eyes, her hair...everything about her is almost perfect!
Ðɑηηɑ wrote: "Mulan isn't princess."Lol yes she is. Just because she doesn't wear a dress? Unlike most princesses, Mulan actually has a purpose.
I don't understand why so many people are picking Aurora. All I see in her is someone who is just basic. Honestly, the whole movie all she did was sleep and wait for her prince to save her. I understand that she really couldn't do much, but instead of dreaming about her love, she should have been picking berries or maybe even doing some chores. Then when she returns home, she throws a fit over a boy he just met. If I found out that I was a princess and I was going to be with my family again, I would have at least be thankful. And Although all princesses are beautiful, snow white and sleeping beauty were honestly worthless. You can disagree but Jasmine has my vote.

Honestly, who can pick? they all have nice bodies, beautiful hair, and are all overall gorgeous. Unrealistic to me though.

Also calling Ariel stupid is uncalled for. You talk like you've never been a teenager with a hopeless crush. Sure she married the dude but you've got to admit that it was mostly because of stubbornness and rebellion. Merida is good looking and totally different from other Disney princesses, so stop hating
