Poll

Feedback poll #2: Last year, we had a single thread where each of us talked about our reading progress. This year, we had progress threads in our respective "lounges". Since I've noticed lesser chit-chat this year (probably because of splitting the threads), I've been thinking it would be better to have a single thread where everyone can come together and talk. Do you think you would like that too? (Any suggestion, please provide in comments)

Yes, let's all hang out in the same place please.

No, I would rather stick with those reading towards the same goal as me.

LynnB I think part of the lack of comments/discussion is because so many just list the books they read, or even just the covers, without any comments that might start a discussion.

I kinda like keeping our personal threads, just as lists...I just post to there once a month - but I try to stick my head into my lounge every couple of weeks and post...

maybe we could keep our lounges, but start a cumulative thread that is something like best book read in January where people can discuss...or something like that

message 3: by LynnB (new)

LynnB I agree. I like the separate thread where we can list our books without comments just for our own purposes, but I meant adding threads where people can discuss books as they want. Maybe a "What Are You Reading Now?" or "Reading in January" (start a new one each month) thread, or the like. I never use my lounge's thread -- and sometimes a book I might want to discuss may be on a different lounge's thread. I have to admit that I haven't even looked at the lounge threads this year after the first week or so.

Ann aka Iftcan yes, I like keeping our own threads for "our" books, but I do like to see chat from everyone, and frankly, there hasn't been much. So maybe keep the individual book lists (alphabetical, like last year) but go back to the single "chat" thread.

Tiff I agree with everyone. I haven't used the group's lounge at all. I do like having my own thread to keep track of my books that I read and update a couple times a month. I also did glance at several others individual threads throughout the year for book recommendations and ideas. I'd like to keep that, it works well :)

Athira (Reading on a Rainy Day) Thanks everyone for your suggestions! The personal lists (which each of you have and where you list the books you read, etc) are definitely here to stay. They won't be removed.

I like your idea. I like keeping the lounges for intra-lounge talks. But I like to have other topics up for everyone to chime in. Topics like 'Books you recommend', ' What am I reading', 'What's keeping me from reading today', etc.

It's clear from the polls that we need a single place to talk. So the lounges may or may not be merged, but I'll look forward to adding more general common topics.

The reason we kept it split by reading goals was to make it easier to find someone who was reading as much as you are. How does this sound - keeping the structure as is, keeping individual lounge threads, but also having a common area for all to chat with questions like those mentioned above?

message 7: by Deanna (new)

Deanna I like the idea of having a common area for chats. Since so many of the posts are just a new book being added. I have to admit I don't even read them anymore! I actually read the reviews of the books I have read and comment on the reviews. If I knew that the posts were comments on books I would definitely read them then.
