sooo i finished reading reverse by kate stewart 2 days ago and i'm now a changed girl. no fr.
i'm no longer the same person that i was before reading it.
i was on a fantasy readathon but reading reverse changed EVERYTHING lol.
now all i want to read is an emotionally intense, angsty and painful, soul wrecking and heart wrenching and gripping contemporary romance book (being a mood reader sucks at times) and i'm so lost because contemporary romance is not my go-to genre lol.
i'm in desperate need of some good recs and i'm specifically talking about the kind of books that leaves you sobbing and dry heaving and questioning your life choices at 1 am lmao 😭🙏

a little life by hanya yangihara, its intensly emotional soul destroying contemporary gripping i am not sure its angsty but its gripping and i have not forgotten the reading experience the first time i read it

Omg I just realised that I have never cried reading a contemporary romance genre. Broken country by clare leslie hall is kinda in this genre only and I was sobbing for the last 3 hours of the audiobook. All for the game trilogy is also kinda in this genre as well (the writing is kinda blotchy in this one but it has the best found family I have ver read)
I HAVE QUITE A FEW RECS: a little life, the song of achilles (not a contemporary romance but will definitely make you stare at the wall after reading), emily henry’s books are bittersweet, if we were villains
Go easy on yourself no beat ups ok. Want angst and good writing ✍🏻 see if you can handle Of Human Bondage. Continue to be so amazing and real 💫

idk if youve read "You've reached Sam" becuz i read the first 12 pages and ended up sobbing my heart out (and that is where i stopped; too much pain haha) so try that one!!

i was abt to comment that i don’t but i just remembered one - These Violent Delights by micah nemerever (not the chloe gong one) - it’s dark academia and it’s so emotionally intense, it follows two people who meet each other at college and then fall into dangerously intense codependent relationship. it’s so good like even if you get out of this mood before getting to it, pls eventually read it anyways :)
