I’m not an author, but I enjoy writing in my free time. If there is something specific you need inspiration for I would love to help.
okie dokie! if you're looking for the strong female character vibe, there's of course katniss everdeen. if you want to give a little wiggle room to open the door to not-awkward romance but for her to still be a headstrong girlboss, paedyn gray from powerless is a great one. and if you want someone who doesn't really care about being a strong person and cares more about doing whatever guys would like her to (this doesn't sound ideal but this is perfect for pure romcoms/romances), belly conklin from tsitp is great. these are only mainstream characters in one small niche of personality types, though!if you want something more niche, lmk!! for example, if you'd like inspo for morally grey characters (someone who is not loved but not hated) look at june hayward from yellowface, who is a great example of this!
again, these are all popular tropes from media—if you're feeling an original-ish type of character, let us know! hope this helped a little bb (and to all the aspiring writers in here) ❤︎
also if you're looking for help on physical appearance, i am BEGGING you not to fall into the "unique features" trap!! like if you want your character to have like long hair and a slim build or smth that is a-ok but do NOT give her like seafoam-coloured hair and amethyst eyes or something. i know it's super tempting to do that but your character can express uniqueness in another way, like personality/demeanour quirks or like one notable feature. PLEASE do not give her stereotypical romantasy features!

So for everyone who has asked all the questions about what I need help with here's your answerrrrr🤍Genre : myster romance kinda I'm still thinking.
I also need some personality inspo
And I need so help with like the vines of the book itself set in Paris and then she travels (more like escapes) back to Aotearoa(New Zealand )
ohhhhh yesss okay I'd love to give you some inspiration. you could have many different types of personalities, and im telling you, each one will click If you give random traits to each one. for example, there's a character in my book who only buys recycled material and doesnt even want to see plastic in her eye radius. your characters can be from shy to natural leaders, to mysterious and cocky to sweet and observant. there are countless combinations. if you need anything else my door is always open!!

i hope this helps
Well, i love my female badassesSo, classic Hermione (as if that wasn't obvious enough from my profile, lol) and Annabeth
Then apart from that Pip from agggtm, and very unpopupular but Brystal Evergreen from A Tale of Magic
Maybe Jude Duarte (but i think she is more associated to fantasy than the genres you're aiming for)
If youre looking for girl-with-backbone vibes: katniss everdeanIf you're looking for badass-girl vibes: katy from the lux novel series
If you're looking for a cute or mysterious guy woth a little bit of an attitude: Edward Cullen, Daemon from the lux novel series
I always say to start with Pinterest. Most people might use it for looks, but I also use it for personality types and whatnot. It’s really useful for seeing how other people view these personality types, which ones are overused, and how to make them unique in your own way. They also have some fun names. Sorry, I know that those aren’t really books, but thats just my go to before I start planning. Some good books would probably be Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson (the fmc is the stubborn and determined type, but she has a really good balance and is very unique, and the romance trope is well done, too), Once Upon a Broken Heart if you’re looking for a more “damsel in distress” type of character (with a very obsessive/protective love interest). If you want a series with inspo for plot twists and good banter, The Ascendance series by Jennifer A. Nielsen is a great low fantasy that has amazing character development and plots. Thats about all I can think of. I hope this helps!!
Author to author, I would go with the soft/weak heroin to the strong and powerful in the end. Or you could have a character with the messed up past, trying to work through it. You could also go for the feisty/protective/adamant on equality trope with a secret soft spot. Hope this helps!! Happy writing!
Hey! I'd loveee to help but where do I type my suggestions? As a comment or is there a separate form or something like that?? I'm really sorry for being so clueless... I'm not really familiar with how Goodreads work except for the options of adding books to shelves 😅

idk what type of book you’re writing but if you need some lgbtq diversity or overall sarcastic characters, how to find a missing girl by victoria wlosok is really good in general 🙌 also some badasses are jude duarte (cruel prince) with her “no bs” attitude and overall grungy aesthetic and someone already mentioned katniss everdeen but she’s always a good choice. but yeah hope this is kinda useful 🥹👍🏽edit: OOP i js looked at the other comments and saw ur genre lol 😭 but i think these ideas will still work 🫶🏽

oh PLSSSSS MAKE SURE THEY HAVE A BRAIN LMAOtoo many books are riddled with characters who throw common sense out of the window, and usually the fmc is whiny, and the mmc is too overzealous without a justifiable reason, like they just met bro
idk, it depends on the plot
but it'd be nice to not eye-roll @characters doing nonsensical things
