ooo, okay, thank youuu! i definitely plan on reading all the books at some point, but this is so much more helpful considering i've been dying to watch the show, but i always want to read the books beforehand

I had only read The Deal before watching the show. Then I got hooked on the show, and binge-read the series in a week. The show is more of a loose adaptation of the books. There were entire storylines from the book left out, and the way some things happened got a complete reversal (you'll get what I mean when you watch the show). They still have the same feel and overall story, but they are not entirely the same. I would say it's safe to have just read The Deal before going in and reading the rest after.
