I have not read any of these unfortunately, so I can't help.

My advice is always to look at big awards--like the nebula, the booker prize, etc etc or less academic awards like Amazon editor picks or readers choice, and then pick from a list of their nominees. That way you know the book is at least good enough to be worth your valuable time.
