I'm planning on reading The Hunger Games soon so let me know which one you think I should read first if you've read them (please comment if you have a specific order you read them in! thx!)
Sorry, I haven't read them
I'll comment :)

I made the mistake of watching the movies first, but I still haven't read the books 😢

It’s best to read them in publication order. Sunrise on the Reaping and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes have ties and easter eggs to the original series that you wouldn’t understand if you hadn’t read books 1-3 firstI would also advise reading The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes before Sunrise on the Reaping. There are some scenes that point back to tbosas in sotr that wouldn’t make sense or hold as much weight if you haven’t read them in publication order
Additionally the ending of Mockingjay will be spoiled if you read sotr before the og series
It’s just to get the best experience you can. This is coming from someone who has read every book in the series several times (save for sotr) so you can trust my judgement :)
Ok, so personally I read the first one first. Technically that’s not chronologically correct, but it is how they were published. And I would recommend reading the original series first, just because any Easter eggs won’t be the same to you, and it kinda helps to understand what eventually happens to Haymitch/Snow later on, just to get a better idea for why he does everything he does. You can definitely read BoSaS or SotR first, but I would recommend you read the original trilogy first.
The way I read them was the trilogy first and then TBOSAS and then SOTR. But I think it could be fun to read TBOSAS first then the trilogy then SOTR! (I wouldn’t read SOTR before the trio because there’s spoilers at the end of it about the trio)
I’d suggest reading books 1-3, then Ballad of Songbirds and snakes, then sotr. It was written in that order, so reading other books first gets kinda confusing, because book 1 gives a lot of context and worldbuilding for how the Hunger Games work. Some of the novellas also have scenes that take place after book 3, which would be spoiling the original trilogy

Thank you!!!!
I usually read them, The hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay, then either of the two prequels. :)

Read the hunger games then catching fire then mockingjay they ballad of the songbirds and snakes then sunrise of the reaping because there’s the Trilogy and then the ballad of the songbirds and snakes and sunrise of the reaping

They aren’t necessarily amazing (imo) on there own, but add so much to the og series.
