How do you write a pre-kiss scene?
I can’t figure out how to get them to end up kissing because they are both denying their feelings yet it is necessary to the plot that they kiss and I just can’t for the life of me figure out how to get them both to lean in. They are being really stubborn right now lol. (PLEASE HELP I WANT TO WRITE BUT I DON’T KNOW HOWWW)

Maybe they glance at each others lips or it could be the guy ends up just pulling her in suddenly
(write-in)
No clue sorry!
I’ll comment!
Idk but I’ll share!

One way is to like have them denying their feeling but then like have one of them slip up and say something they do like about the other person and then they start saying good things and then yk…👩❤️💋👨 idk if that would work but it might 🤷♀️
It’s a christian romance fiction and they are currently on a “we’re just friends” basis even though they are on a date
For me I made my characters (although they’ve been pining for each other for a while until their kissing scene) get closer and naturally gravitated towards each other. With your characters I would make them slowly do the same then maybe let there be a little voice in their head saying their true feelings towards the other. Are any of them semi impulsive or say what they think? If so I would 100% have them ask the others as they are just a few inches apart from each other “are you in love with me?” Or. “I like you, like a lot” and the other maybe answers and then they kiss or answers with a kiss

They have already kind gravititated towards each other as they were slow dancing and now if she just rises up on her tip toes or he leans down they could kiss so that might work.
Maybe one of them slips up and sorta sounds like they are js babbling (about their feelings) and the other leans in and kisses them to stop talking

I’m just not good at writing kisses since I’ve never kissed anyone and i just live vicariously through fictional characters.
hmmm, it all depends on your characters' personalities. maybe the one who's more introverted takes charge and kisses them, I would like to see that! but izzy's idea sounds great!! :)
maybe like have one of the charcters have a really emotional sad moment and then the other mc finds them by accident and they have a really charged moment or something lol
I would say make them get into a fight and she turns away and he like grabs her hand, pulls her back and kisses her

Unpopular opinion, I prefer a first kiss to be at the wedding, or at least after the accepted proposal.
Idk what your vibe is exactly, but if it's friends to lovers, it would be interesting for them to be having loads of fun in their "friendly" date and be laughing a lot and just be really relaxed, so relaxed they kiss naturally, without thinking about it, and it hits them mid-kiss that they're kissing and they both pull away chocked and horrified (If I'm honest, I'm kind of tired of the whole we're fighting and then someone grabs the other and kisses them trope) Alternatively, you could frame it as a ""tease" or "bet" thing, like "You're so lame/ so boring" and the other is like "oh, here, I'll show you!" and then try to laugh it off as it's no big deal but they're both internally screaming
Have like one of them needs saving and than the other saves them and one of them almost like dies and that’s when they kisss and confess but that might fit the story.
how would that be like fighting and then they get like really close while they're like yelling at each other or something and then they're like super close and then they like kiss
Honestly, this poll is helpful for me as I near the "first kiss" scene in my book and I don't know how I'm going to write it, either. :)But maybe amidst their denial a tiny part of them is like "just kiss, already! You love each other!" Or they're so stubborn in their denial they kiss to prove to each other they're not in love but end up realizing their love instead...? Idk...like I said, I'm struggling, too lol
Maybe he could be explaining something to her and somehow as he's explaining, they just keep semi-consciously getting close to each other. Then, they're just soo close right now. they might as just kiss.
I don't know sweetie I have the opposite problem. My characters keep trying to kiss before it's time. 😭
tension is keyyyyromance (that's not lustful) is kinda a crescendo. you need little moments to build up to the main kiss scene.
the moments should start off sorta insignificant and increase in meaning as the relationship grows deeper. insignificant things like glances that last just a little longer than they should. and then more important things like sitting superrr close when it's not necessary.
one thing you could do is character 1 could have to whisper (or speak really loudly depending on the circumstances) into character 2's ear and then when character 2 turns to respond their faces are VERY close. give them an excuse for the close proximity of their bodies/faces and then run with it!
(i hope this helps and makes senseee)

oooooo i love thatt!
thank you guys so much! ive kinda done a mashup of a few of yall's suggestions! i chose to have them be really close then him be like "am i crazy or do you feel smt too?" then she says yes and they kiss. i was going to write more at school during a free period but i dont want someone reading over my shoulder about two people kissing bc to me thats a bit embarrassing lol. Thanks again loves!
