Isabelle I like when angst is worked through! So if a character has a traumatic/sad event, I want to see the healing process. I don’t like when those feelings get brushed aside. I want to go on the journey of healing with them!

kkat v this might be a little specific but when characters have spent their whole lives feeling like they’ll never find the one thing they long for, and then they do… i especially love this in found family tropes etc <3 so i guess rediscovering hope? but when it doesn’t happen automatically and they deny it at first yk

Em Imagery--show it, don't tell it. Emotional restraint in the writing makes readers feel more.

emma (back after may 27th!!) uuu i love this! firstly if it makes me cry: whether are happy or sad tears, that’s a huge bonus point. although the writing style is very important to me, if it’s poor or i don’t like it much i won’t put up the book ever again, and if i relate!! it’s so important, because i want to connect to the characters, i want to feel seen and heard, reading of people that are just like me

thank you ! i completely agree that the development of a character should be carefully executed

yes I love healing and dramatic scenes on how they’ve changed. Also when I can relate to a character like if I’m able to separate their situation from their world and apply it to my own life it that makes sense. Like in throne of glass when Aelin feels lost and it can resonate with the audience even though they feel lost for different reasons. I live for sad relationship scenes too

siera 🪷! (soobin’s!! vers.) 1000% going to be that feeling of wanting something (or someone) and not being able to have it because of reasons outside your control, which i feel is very relatable. especially when the character is desperately trying to get that thing and not being able to. this could be a love interest that they can't have because of legal/societal expectations, or something like the goal of a better life, and not being able to have one because it's impossible to get out of your current situation. idk if this made sense but yeah, i love characters that yearn like this, even if it's not for people.

alyymaas i’m heavy on relatability so if i can relate to the characters, that makes me rly attached to them even if it’s just one trait that they may have. this can be personality, trauma (past or present), insecurities, features (rarely since theres low amount of rep 😭), dysfunctional families .etc.

i love when the story is realistic in a way. again, one that i can somewhat relate to even if it’s just a little bit. even tho sad endings or tragic stuff BREAKS me it does make me feel smthn. or when it’s a happy ending, that gives me hope and gets me excited.

maryam when the author clearly put effort & thought into their book. that makes me feel everything in the book. also the development of the character should be properly executed, and so are their emotions because characters shape the plot, if they don't develop, or if they dont have emotions, what's the point?
