i just have a question why do people annotate theyre books i dont rlly see the point

HELL YEAH

I do it with ones I love! And when I don’t want to actually write in them, I use tab to mark a page I liked, because they’re easily removed. Personally I don’t see what everyone has against it, the second I open a book I bought it’s mine, I don’t plan on selling it. And ngl, I encourage my friends to annotate my books, because I just love reading their thought. But that’s probably one of the things that falls under the “just me” category.

There’s not much point (unless it’s a book you plan on rereading), since you won’t look at them again most likely. Annotating will kill the resell value, but it’s still fun! I annotated my favorite book with post-it notes & never revisited them, but it’s still nice in the moment and keeps your reading comprehension active if it’s a harder read.

I lowkey don’t do tabs I just underline stuff when I see a really pretty line

Same!!! So I can keep the condition but still mark things by color. I can’t write on my tabs tho but I don’t mind!

I'd start with tabs and those clear sticky note things you can write on first to see if you like it then you can start highlighting and stuff

Okay so I’m a very adamant “DONT HURT THEM!!” Kind of person, and I HATE annotating in books, but I think it’s okay if you use sticky notes or clear sticky notes, that way it’s not actually ruining the book. I recently discovered the clear ones, and I love them for it!

I only have done it if it’s for school or it was a really cheap book that I read multiple times. If I read a book about 4 times I consider it, but only if the book was under $5.00
