So I’ve been thinking about how books never make me cry even if they’re really sad (unless it has something to do with animals), and I was wondering how often books make you guys cry? It makes me feel a little apathetic when something really sad happens and I’m not crying, am I the only one? 😭😭

Almost never, I think there’s been a couple books that made me cry
Not often, but I have bawled while reading before
I only cry if I get emotionally connected to the characters, which in all fairness does happen a lot.

Some of the time, I get sad kinda easily
I don’t think I’ve ever cried at a book before
I've cried a few times, during sad parts. It's rare for me.

almost every single book makes me cry, whether that be sad tears or happy tears
I usually only cry happy tears while reading

Definitely! I cry over characters I love. Especially when something bad happens, or they die. Sometimes I cry over happy scenes, such as a couple getting together or family reunited. Honestly it just depends on the book and how things are worded.
I think the hardest I’ve ever cried for a book was the ending of Mockingjay, but I cry over a lot of books
to be honest, i’ve never cried over a book. i'll shed a tear or two if it’s really sad, but i have never ugly cried. there were a fear tears reading fearless and powerful, but that was it. and i’ve read a dog’s purpose and didn’t shed a tear, even after watching the movie.the only form of storytelling that has ever made me ugly cry was guardians of the galaxy vol. 3. (thank goodness i didn’t see it in theater)
it doesn’t make you apathetic if you don’t cry. everyone has different ways of expressing emotion, and some hardly express it at all, but that doesn’t make you apathetic.
honestly i’m still waiting for the book that will make me ugly cry like guardians of the galaxy vol 3 made me cry, so you’re not alone
I can think of a few times I’ve cried reading books. When animals are mistreated or die, of course. But also when someone speaks positively of Christianity and or shows it accurately. Or affirms that my experiences are just as valid and I’m not evil for being a Christian.

Movies are more likely to make me cry than books though because I get more emotionally attached to the characters in a movie.

tbh i think im just a really emotional person, like i cry to almost any sad movie, sometimes to songs, and if i see someone cry ill start crying 😭 books are a little harder to cry to though! i dont think it makes you apathetic 💗
