technically egg because of evolution (since there would have been an animal extremely similar to a chicken with just the smallest differences that layed an egg that was the first real chicken I think)

I think with evolution a creature that was 99.9% similar to a chicken would have been the one to lay the egg and keep it warm basicslly, but it’s not quite a chicken yet necessarily (idk if that makes sense sorry lol)
