sirazum Okay hear me out, for years whenever I was on a reading slump I used to pick up booktube's "read this fun, cute, easy to read books when you are on a reading slump" BUT IT NEVER WORKED FOR ME. I do read thrillers too and they are great at taking you out of a reading slump, so I used to read "easy, fun, fast paced ya thrillers" but THEY DIDN'T WORK. Because, I love darker and well written books, the popcorn thrillers would never get me out of reading slump no matter how fun or fast paced those are. I have again and again noticed its always the complex, well written, dark thrillers that get me out of a reading slump. Because again....well that's my comfort zone.

Personally for me reading "easy to read, not complex, not dark, pure fun" books don't help. Because I love to read dark books, I love good writing. So, in order for me to get out of a reading slump,,, i would rather pick even more dark, or maybe a flowery writing book.

so, if you are romance reader and prefer easy romance then PICK THE EASIEST ROMANCE. If your are a romance reader who loves a bit of emotional depth PICK A EMOTIONAL ROMANCE or maybe a lit fic. If you are a well written, depth heavy romance reader then fun, cute romance are less likely to get you out of a reading slump. And VICE VERSA. I hope it made sense what I'm trying to say.

Conclusion:
"Intensify and I mean INTENSIFY the things you normally LOVE"

Dawn Solaris First of all, HIIIII WHERE WERE YOU, GIRLIE? Missed you sm 😭✋🏻 sorry you had to come back with a slump. So, what really works for me to get out of a slump is:

1. Reread a fave (always works)

2. Read short stories and get back into the rhythm

3. Read a genre you’ve never ever ever tried. For example, if you’re a contemporary romance girlie, pick up a horror on a whim. Smth like that!

4. Read a book that you know everyone on the planet hates and you vowed you would never read it. Hate-reading does wonders, trust me!!

Szee Ning [semi-inactive] astra girlieeeee i miss youuuu and i hope your slump goes away soon 😞 i honestly don’t know but i feel like freida books help 👀

Annabelle (hiatus) idk how to help but missed you sm bby!! maybe hate read or rereading your fave books might help

message 10: by Shila (new)

Shila I normally just re- read a book I liked or reading very short stories to get back into it again

Kaitlin! Listen to an audiobook while doing some other tasks! Audiobooks always get me back in the mood to read and are less of a commitment because you can multitask while listening. Libby has tons of great ones and even Spotify and Youtube have some free ones, or LibriVox for classics.
