In my book I’m trying to choose if I should name my character Shawn or Nolan.

He’s a surfer boy (cuz that’s mainly what my book is based off of). And the character relationships are kinda based around some friendships I had with the kids in my grandparents neighborhood. One of the kids names was Nolan.

I also know a kid named Shawn. But…well I don’t wanna get into that. Long story short we’re decent acquaintances (he thinks we’re close again).

But which name fits the character better, just wondering which one I shouldn’t worry about the real life connection to the person with.
