i'm not huge into hard sci-fi but here are some recs:
- the aurora cycle by amie kaufman (YA sci-fi w/ romance subplots! found family, super sweet/funny but intense)
- the long way to a small angry planet by becky chambers (adult sci-fi, more worldbuilding, more found family lol)
