Soooo hey I have a question. I just finished The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue for the second time. And I’m trying to read books in a similar genre of my own book but it’s kind of a genre bender so at this point I don’t know what I should read for research 💀
So I’m just wondering if anyone has any book recommendations for character driven fantasy or psychological dramas. Or both.

Sorry I don’t have any!
I’ll comment!

The Last Tale of the Flower Bride! It's not really a fantasy, more of a fairytale-esque magical realism with horror/thriller elements to it. The prose is gorgeous too!
Neither of these are particularly romance centric but they’re definitely character focused, primarily fantasies with thriller and literary elements. The God of Endings by Jacqueline Holland is similar to Addie Larue in a lot of ways (women who gains immortality in France, shifting between historical periods and modern day) but a little darker and weirder, with gothic overtones. The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley is also character focused historical fantasy with some really unique fantasy and sci-fi elements + queer romance.Good luck!
If you are talking about magical realism then i have two recommendations - seven year slip (romantic) and the unmaking of June farrow (also romantic but a little more serious). Hope this helps !
-Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross of course give the same vibes -Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by VE Schwab was basically the same premise but I think she did a better job with it then Addie.
-Our Infinite Fates by Laura Steven
-Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix Harrow
Have you tried any Laini Taylor? Also Kelley Armstrong has recently written novels with very similar plot lines so you may check out her work as well.
Her (V E Schwab) latest book Bury My Bones in the Midnight Soil is very good, and someone commented about Laini Taylor her Daughter of Smoke and Bone is super good also
so i’ve never read the mentioned book, and i have no idea if this is what you’re looking for, but i recommend Everlost. it’s the first book in a trilogy by Neal Shusterman and it’s a fantasy book about to kids who “die” in a car crash, but get off course from The Light and end up stuck on the mortal realm. it’s all about their journey to try to either find a way back to their life or to move on. however, there’s blips that get in the way. it’s a really interesting book🤷♀️

Also for further context into the genre it’s a Lyrical Fantasy with heavy romance ( it’s really slow burn and best friends to lovers) and a bit of psychological thriller, literary fiction, and maybe some light sci-fi.
I’m just as confused about the genres as you are. But very simply put I think it would be considered a character driven fantasy.
