despite having nominated Agent in Place (since I own the paperback) I am considering voting for The Man Who Died Twice despite not having read the first in the series.

I voted for Agent in Place, but I'll happily read A Sleeping Life or slightly less happily the Richard Osman book. ( I too have not read book #1 of that series.) I read The Long Call years ago. Cheers!

The first book in this Osman series is a very fun read. I gave it 4 stars. It had very interesting older characters living in a retirement home. Richard based it on the independent living place where his mother resided. Do you call retirement homes with less care that term in the UK?
I just finished The Man Who Died Twice and it is a rollicking murder mystery. May I suggest that everyone read the first in the series in order to be familiar with 'The Club'. Knowing the characters makes the story much more meaningful and enjoyable. I listened to it read by Lesley Mannville. I highly recommend the audiobook.
