HELPP SHOULD I TANDEM READ EMPIRE OF STORMS AND TOWER OF DAWN OR NOT???😭
so first and foremost, i'm an unapologetic chaol stan💅 i'm telling you this bcz some are saying you'd not want to read tower of dawn because it focuses on chaol like honey wdym i won't like reading about the most human, the most flawed character of the series? SAY LESS.
secondly this might be the only opportunity i'd get of tandem reading a book and i wanna experience it?
but some readers are saying the lore of both books are VERY different and tandem reading ruins the experience. plus 1500+ pages, around 20+ different povs will be a hassle (i don't think i'll mind this actually. i'm good at reading long book)
some are saying EOS ends in a huge cliffhanger and going back in timeline to read TOD will be a tedious task especially bcz TOD's start is really slow.
others are saying tandem reading spoils EOS a little.
IDKKK THIS IS PROBABLY THE ONLY OPPORTUNITY I'LL GET OF TANDEM READING A BOOK SO WHAT DO YOU SAY FUCK IT WE BALL?

read them separate!!! i didn’t even like chaol and tod is my fav book in the series + i read them separately
ok i read separately a few years ago mainly bc i was too lazy to tandem and it didn’t sound appealing. i went in to tod not loving chaol anymore but finished it loving him once again SO esp bc you love chaol i say read separately, his journey is amazing and tod is phenomenal and definitely deserves its own time
i think it’s best to read them seperatly for ur first time!! (i did so too) and tbh i’m glad i did bc i feel like it’s just better to experience each book on their own
Definitely do the tandem read, it makes for a better understanding overall and you won’t miss anything important that correlates between the 2 books.I just searched up Tower of dawn and empire of storms tandem read them I went to pictures in google and chose the reading order that’s green and black. I really liked reading it this way and checking of my progress as I went, it made it like a little reading challenge (:
"some are saying EOS ends in a huge cliffhanger and going back in timeline to read TOD will be a tedious task especially bcz TOD's start is really slow.” - THIS is the main reason why I recommend the tandem read. The ending of EOS is brutal, you’ll want to start KOS immediately. I love TOD, but it’s a slower paced book and maybe you’ll find yourself wishing you could skip ahead and go straight to the final book. I did the tandem read the first time I read the series and did it again when I reread it last year, I think it’s a great way to read both books and I never felt confused. And about the spoiler, don’t worry. In TOD they find out something about a character before it’s revealed in EOS, but it won’t affect your enjoyment of the story. Also, I love that you love Chaol. He gets so much hate and it breaks my heart 😭 he’s far from perfect but he’s such a human character and I’m sure you’ll love TOD. It made me fall in love with him, his development throughout the story is so beautiful 🥹

I read it in tandem and did not regret it one bit even once. Yes, it does take some time but it is really beautiful to see the story unfold on all the fronts. The tandem read is perfect to kind of visualize the story of EOS and TOD taking place at the exact same time, just on different places in the world. I think without the tandem read it would have felt a bit abrupt after EOS. Also, your concern with the different POV’s is really nothing to actually worry about because it all really makes sense the way it is.
For me personally, Chaol is not my favorite, so reading only his book and his sorrow-fest would have made me bored out of my mind 😶🌫️😶🌫️
In addition: you read 2 books at the same time so you get to finish 2 books (kind of) at the same time and add 2 directly to your reading goal. But that is just a cute extra bonus ☺️🫶🏻
No matter which way you choose, it’ll be amazing because this series is just 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
No honestly i read them separately and i regret it so much cuz chaols book was pure torture for me 😭
I would totally recommend the tandem read (I searched the internet for the same question for 2 weeks maybe) and it was the best decision I made after choosing to read TAB first. There is a blog by Mae Polzine and the order they gave for the tandem read doesn't spoil EOS one bit!
I read these books as and when they were published so tandem reading wasn’t a thing for me and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it that way and will continue to read it that way. Having said that, I did vote to tandem read as that is what most people are doing now a days
I loved tandem reading them! And I am a staunch chaol girly and looked forward to every chapter I got to go back to TOD and read more chaol. HOWEVER, EOS is really action heavy and has a big cliffhanger, and personally as much as I loved TOD, I think if I'd read them separately, my love for TOD would have been negatively impacted by me wanting to move forward in the story and know what happens after the end of EOS. I really can't imagine reading EOS in its entirety and then having to go back to the beginning and read 900 pages of other characters povs before finding out what happened. so that's my biggest argument for tandem reading, don't let EOS ruin TOD for you lol
