as a jewish american leftist, im pro-palestine but i believe israel has a right to exist since the land has been the palestinian AND jewish homeland going back to thousands of years bce.

before you dismiss me as a zionist, i want to clarify my position: i'm not for zionism in the sense that jewish people deserve to have all of the land in the area and should take it by any means necessary. i believe both nations have the right to have PEACEFUL sovereign states in the area, including israel. however, because currently israel has a state and palestine doesn't, and the idf (israel's defense force) is committing unspeakable atrocities, i wholeheartedly support palestine. however that doesn't mean israel doesn't have a right to exist/jews need to leave the area completely, it just means they have to share it PEACEFULLY (which they are absolutely not currently doing).

i also want to remind gr ppl that not all israelis support netanyahu, the settlements, and what's happening in gaza. being israeli, or being jewish, doesn't make you a genocide supporter. it's a lot more complicated than that.

tl;dr i'm pro-palestine, anti-israel's policies and horrible actions that go against human rights, but not anti-israel's EXISTENCE.

im a little scared to post this tbh bc i really don't want to lose any friends over this - if anyone wants to talk further please pm me! i'd be happy to explain my opinions and ofc im always willing to learn more. i know that i've been influenced by my proudly jewish family whom i love (who empathize w/ palestine and hate israel's govt's actions against them while also having deep cultural attachment to israel as a homeland for the jewish people), so although im trying to do as much research as possible, ik that my upbringing is def a factor in how i see the world. if anyone read this far congrats lol, i love yall <3
