I know, I thought about how SJM herself said she doesn't recommend it! But then there's so many voices on GR who said you should definitely do it and I'm just not sure hahaha
Well it seems there’s a absolut 50/50 meaning about it. Well- at the end, you have to decide it 🤓😉 I was very happy with my choice. However you decide- have fun!
I did it and loved it. Sometimes I get world fatigue in the longer books so the tandem broke it up perfectly. And since the books take place at the same time, I liked reading how each group fared in their quests to come back together. And I know so many people who couldn’t get through Tower of Dawn on its own because they don’t care *that* much about Chaol. I didn’t mind Chaol but I don’t think I could’ve gotten through the book without having a little break every few chapters to check in with Aelin & friends.
I didn't but only because I didn't know about it when I read them the first time. Hope whatever you decide is enjoyable!
i asked the same question a month ago when i was reading it, and i would 1000% recommend tandem reading it. do it for the new experience. this is one of the rare times you get to experience tandem reading, and secondly, it makes both the books a lot more digestible. it was a phenomenal experience and that's how most of the readers prefer reading these books.
ik sjm recommended against it, but i genuinely don't see any issue. instead, me reading them seperately would have been so draining. TOD is not an action packed book, thus many hesitate reading it. But TOD is equally an important book as EOS. and tandem reading both neutralizes the action (EOS) and the complex (TOD) aspects of the series.

sarah j maas does not recommend it. You are just getting out of the flow of the single stories. They are both so different and in a different vibe. I would have not enjoyed the tandem read. But I loved the books after each other very much. From me it’s a big NO!
