Feminine fantasy book characters; a need or not? I wrote a blog post about how there are hardly any, and I was wondering if people felt the same way as I do!

We need more asap!!
I’m not sure

There are more than enough
It depends on what the story needs, but I don't think there should be a cap on certain types of characters and not others.

We don't need feminine female fantasy characters

The main character in my fantasy book series is feminine👀 I feel like the reason most fantasy women are masculine is just suppressed misogyni and "Women can't fight"-thinking.

I absolutely loved your post (as you already know) and I agree with very single thing you pointed out. We need to live in a world where being a woman doesn't come with conditions - if we want to be feminine, then we should be able to be feminine. If we want to like flowers and love and beauty, then we should be able to desire those things and want them without it ever meaning we're less "feminists" or more traditional. There's place in the world for all of us, and we need to be the first ones to accept that
Couldn't agree more 🙏 i was thinking while reading my last fantasy, that I'm a bit tired of the same kill-machine of a heroine that every fantasy features as a main character. I simply can't relate to her 🤷🏼♀️ but also, Elaine from ACOTAR series is boring not because she's feminine, but because her traits have nothing to do with the plot (I've read books 1-3.5 so far). Fantasy has this formula that the main character of a book is a saviour and to be that one has to be physically strong and like to fight/kill people left and right with brute force. And I think that's a silly notion 😤 for the oldies: take Katherine Pierce from "The Vampire diaries" for example. She was more powerful physically than the Salvatore brothers combined, but she chose her feminine skills of seduction, intrigue, smarts and even played dumb sometimes to get what she needs. Only when all other avenues were exhausted, did she use her physical strength as a way of getting her way. I want more heroines like that.
I cannot believe i never really paid attention to this..probably because when its fantasy u expect every character to be like that ..even the female characters...but i totally agree with u and thank u for writing an article about it...

I really liked Elain in acotar because she was so refreshing. Baking, gardening, being a lover rather than a figher... We hardly see those types, and I am genuinely hoping to see more characters like both Elain and Katherine. I am so for fantasy characters that play into their feminine strengths to get their way!

And I loved writing it, thank you for your opinion<3
