Please consider Aniana Del Mar jumps in by Jasminne Mendez. It was a great read about health and dealing with a parents trauma. Told in prose.

The problem with Aniana Del Mar Jumps In is that it was just released on March 14th and I think we are trying to read books that libraries have had time to order and get in their libraries. The Fort Worth Library still has it on-order for every on of their libraries. But I’ll be excited to read it when it comes in.

Just wondering if we are voting for titles we truly think might be of Newbery quality or new titles we are looking forward to reading by some of our favorite authors?

That is what I thought it was, but seems like there are many titles nominated that don’t have much potential- more like look what my favorite author just published- or this is an important topic. I really appreciate those of you that get ARCs read them and base your nominations on the criteria- thank you.

How about any of these? Betsy Bird usually has a pretty good eye for possibilities. Search for her blog post "Newbery / Caldecott 2024: Spring Prediction Edition"
