What is your preferred kind of slowburn in romances?
I'm so sorry that the options are mostly paragraphs but I just wanna be as accurate as possible lmao 😭

I like when they're both oblivious to the fact that the other person is attracted to/have feelings for them until, say, the 75% mark, give or take
I like when they're both oblivious to the fact THEY THEMSELVES are attracted to/have feelings for the other person until, say, the 75% mark, give or take
I like Mariana Zapata level slowburns and if it's not that slow of a burn then I don't want it :)
I like when it's very obvious (among themselves) that they're attracted to each other but they don't actually do anything until, say, the 75% mark, give or take
I like when the book has them hooking up/being intimate/friends with benefits but the slowburn aspect is that they admit their feelings in the end
I don't like slowburns

I like when they meet and they literally don’t feel anything for each other (I like it most if it goes over multiple books though) and they don’t think like “omg he’s the hottest person I’ve ever seen” in the beginning. No just 100% platonic, that builds over the course of the book (or rather books). That’s amazing

✨i read to feel something lol✨ wrote: omg agreed !!! and the multiple books thing would be superiorrrr but I think I've only read one series where it's like that 😭 Ikr, I can’t even think of one series at the top of my head. Which one are you talking about? But like people should definitely write more of them. It’s superior🛐

I was talking about the mirror visitor series. I've been trying to hype it up on her since I read it. The slowburn is superior like the author gives us CRUMBS and I gladly lick them off the floor 🥴
ur pfp reminds me, there's a quote in the second book that kinda gives off the same vibes as one of Cardan's letters so 🥴🥴🥴

Maybe it gets better? We definitely need more series with that plot
Dang what kind of slow-burn does Mariana Zapata have that lets her have her own option omfg I'm curious
i like slow-burns which start out completely platonic & then develop into romantic feelings but where the characters don't disrespect or think less of their platonic relationship. for me, it is very important that the characters acknowledge that their platonic bond is as important as their possible romantic one but there has to be adequate pining lol
Em wrote: "✨i read to feel something lol✨ wrote: "Em wrote: "✨i read to feel something lol✨ wrote: "Em wrote: "✨i read to feel something lol✨ wrote: omg agreed !!! and the multiple books thing would be superi..."ooh trust me it got SO much better in the second book. if you ever decide to read it, hmu (no pressure lol) :)
Shelby wrote: "Dang what kind of slow-burn does Mariana Zapata have that lets her have her own option omfg I'm curious"Like SLOW slow. There's always a deep platonic bond between the couple and most of her books have them finally get together after the 90% mark
The pacing is also so well done & realistic imo :)

Is that why her books are so thick? LOL That makes sense 😂

yeahh 😶
Okay wait I have like a favorite for each type of trope. When it's teenagers, I love the mutual pining. There's something so genuine or authentic about two awkward teens just wanting to be around eachother, but neither of them having the courage to make a move (ex. Heartstopper!!!)
When it's adults who were friends, I love the whole 'we are a domestic married couple but we cannot see it'. When they're super comfortable with eachother, but they still don't have any romantic feelings for eachother for awhile. And when it clicks, it's like "oh well duh, we act like an old married couple". Like a comfortable realization rather than a huge revelation.
or OR, when someone is getting over a heartbreak, and seek platonic solace in a FRIEND (who might or might not be pining for them). And then one day the person is like "shit, I don't care about the other person at ALL, I'm actually kind of in love with my friend?" because they've always been there for them
When it's adults who were strangers, I love a good hook up to romance transition. Like they start with an emotionless intimacy, and readers can witness that shift as the story continues (I don't even mind a hefty 10 chapters of feelings denial because why tf not)
When it's fantasy, I LOVE a good enemies to lovers. Like enemies in the sense that they kind of want to kill eachother for a good portion of the book before they feel anything else for eachother. Bonus points if they're forced to work together to defeat a greater evil while still despising eachother.
Okay I'm going to stop now, but clearly a BIG fan of slow burn.
