Should I read six of crows first or shadow and bone? Is there a connection between them apart from the fact that they both occur in the same universe?

technically shadow and bone comes first so it introduces the universe much more clearly than six of crows does so it might be confusing to start with six of crows. i read six of crows first however and didn’t have too many problems following along so you can still start with that but there are some spoilers in the sequel to six of crows for the shadow and bone trilogy

Shadow and Bone happened first! It has the better world building and I think it’s necessary to understand six of crows :)
They are kind of independent from each other. So it doesn’t matter which you read first in theory. But I find it preferable to read Shadow and Bone first to fully understand some references from Six of crows.

Okay, so I know Shadow and Bone comes first and that you should probably read that first.BUT I read Six of Crows first instead (not really knowing it was a sequel series). I understood it well enough, and I enjoyed the series.
So, I don't really think it matters which book/series you choose to read first.

Oh, thank you!
It doesn't really matter which one you read first. I read Six of Crows first and went back to Shadow and Bone. Didn't really make me confused.
