for me, i round up or down depending on which whole number my rating is closer to. is this 3.5 closer to a three or a four? that's how i do it :)

The maths student in me hates that (for example) I found a 3.5 star book down to a 3 in terms of the stars, but I just hate rounding it up to a 4 because if the book deserves four stars I would have given it lolol

I don't really do half stars because I feel like that can be confusing. If I am conflicted, I will round down :)

it depends for me because if the book was on the worse side of 4.5, i’ll give it four ( was lacking more than not ) and if it was on the better side i’ll give it five. so it really depends.

i do this too!

Usually I round to how I’m feeling about the book. So for example if the writing was poor, but I loved the characters and plot ( 3.5 rating ) I would round to four because I liked most of the book.

I don't do half stars but when I used to do them, it depended on the author. Some own voices authors get low ratings on Goodreads simply because of their identity so I feel it's important to round up with those authors to counter the hate and negative ratings that they get simply because of who they are.

I usually round up but it also depends on the book. If the rating 3.5 was closer to 4 I round up but if it was meh I round down. I hope this hepls :)

Okay, so if I'm rating a book 4.5 I just do 4 stars. :)

if i have a book that i think uses a half star (let's use 3.5 as an example) i'll usually think about it and ask myself "is this book a 3 star book?" if the answer is definitely not, then i'll round up. same thing if it is definitely not a four star book.

I have my own scoring system, but I wouldn't mind if they implemented half-stars.

I rate in whole, quarter, half, and 3/4 stars, so Goodreads rating are hard. I usually write an actual rating at the beginning of my review.
