I hated The Algebraist, so I didn't even consider reading this one.

When I was at the used book store in Westport yesterday for lunch, the only Iain Banks book they had was The Algebraist. Since I can't find this book to borrow or buy used, I'm probably going to skip reading it as well. I have a year's worth of books to read as it is!
I assume "10" is high...? I loved this book, but I confess it's been a few years since I read it.
I didn't love it. In fact, I really didn't like it that much at all. But it's stuck with me, which is weird, and I want to read more. It's rare that a book *improves* in my mind after I read it, but this is one.
