Have read significant portions of the bible, OT and NT but not in a long time, and it is not a tome I live and breathe on any sort of regular basis. So I will need some background provided.

I’m atheist. It seems to be a study of faith, in general, but also the tests/limits/modern views on that level of faith. Don’t need to have faith to study it. And the episode in the Bible is so short that it could be any hypothetical about faith, I don’t think any real biblical knowledge is necessary.

I agree with Dan and Aiden -- no Biblical background is necessary. Johannes de Silentio retells the story of Abraham anyway, in slightly different ways, to set up the problems he wants to discuss. And while it is a religious work, it is not dogmatic or simplistic. It isn't Kierkegaards intention to convert anyone. It's probably more of a challenge to believers than non-believers in any case.

Demons will be included in the next poll.
