When you give a book X.5 stars, do you round up or down on goodreads?

I hope this makes sense 😂

Oh of course! I definitely should've added that as an option, I didn't even think about that.

Added another choice! Totally forgot about that :)

It looks sorta like this:
8.50 - 5 stars - 10
7.10 - 4 stars - 8.49
5.10 - 3 stars - 7.09
2.50 - 2 stars - 5.09
0.00 - 1 star - 2.49 (trust me I've encountered books that were so bad I couldn't even give a full point rating/half a star)
This rating is based on a number of different categories I rate distinctly such as setting, plot, main and secondary characters, antagonists, writing (optional: magic system, pacing, audiobook) and finally enjoyability.
I don't really find the star rating all that reliable, because I don't consider a book that I rated an 8, to be a 5 star rating (if 5 star is between 8 and 10). If I give something an 8, it's a 4 star rating for me. I give 5 stars for anything above 8.50. And I never go for + or ++, because nothing is perfect and the closest a book has reached a 10 for me is Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderon, which I gave a 9.91.
Also I dunno what to answer for your poll, because it does not take into count the idea that people have their own rating, that subjectively means something else to them. Goodreads rating is just a means to a establish a threshold for my own ratings for me.

That's totally understandable! Didn't want to make the poll too complicated, that's why I didn't include anything else :)

Oh interesting! I'll probably start to do that as well :) Didn't think about it before.

If I do not want to do that, I won't give x.5 stars, but only x or x.4 stars. (:
Easy.

For me, the easiest one to decide round up or down is for 2.5 stars, because for anything you rate 3 Stars and above Goodreads makes suggested reads based on that.

However, if it's a 4.5 rating - I round down to a 4.
