I watched Cousin Bette on Netflix or I would not be familiar with it! Interesting they are both French also!
I was wondering how Cousine made it on the "Halloween" ballot.Nothing really goth or spooky about it as far as I know.
It’s been awhile since I watched it but I remember feeling a very suspenseful and a little spooky atmosphere. That Cousin Bette— what was she up to? I never felt like I knew...I feel like the mod can’t go wrong with those 2!

Both apparently considered major classics. Not sure I am up to tackling either one right now. I have had more contact with Hugo's story than Balzac's. I'm impressed by the number of voters in the first round! Enjoy, whatever you choose. I'll not be voting, whether or not I eventually join in reading whatever is selected. Either should be an exciting discussion if 20+ people participate!
