Kerstin, this is what I wrote for the near term schedule:

6 thru 12 May - Poll on the next read.
13 - 19 May - Time to acquire the new read.
20 - 26 May - Read the first section of the new book.
27 - 2 June - First discussion week of the new book.

How long the next read depends on the length of the book. I try to hold book reads to six weeks. After six weeks, people start getting bored with the same book. Six weeks of the new read would project to be around the last week of June. Some of the books in the poll aren't very long, so they could be less than six weeks. I hope that helps.

Another day and a half to vote. Time to make a final decision. I shouldn’t speak. I’m still torn between the two top vote getters.

I have an urge to vote for the book about Pius XI and Mussolini. Mostly because it produced the best discussons in the nominations. It still is an unusual book to be nominated for a Catholic book group.

Ok. The Power of Silence is our next read. I’ll lay out a reading plan as soon as I get the book. We have this week to get the book and next week to start reading before we start discussions. I don’t know much about this book but a few people I know who have read it have said it is a very powerful read. I hope everyone joins in.

I'll see if I can obtain a copy. Both copies at my library are checked out.
