I voted for Dutch, but Dutch and German, although with a lot of supporters, stand no chances anymore.
So, I'll change my vote to Japanese literature. :-)

Hi Nell and Ella - similar to monthly book selections, we had a nomination thred where group members nominated and seconded International Literatures (see link here if you're interested).
The five choices above were selected because they were the most popular International Literature categories in that discussion.
I love the idea of reading books outside of the typical American/English works, so pending how it goes this first round, I hope that we explore International Literature many more times as a group. Next time we discuss nominations, would love your input!!
Thanks,
Kasey

Please note, everybody, that this voting does not end today, it goes on for two more days (ends Jan 10).

I'm doing an around the world challenge in a different group and have just been reading South American literature, I've read some very good books that I wouldn't have known about otherwise and have added several more to my TBR list to get back to later. I particularly enjoyed Kiss of the Spider Woman I'm 'in' the South Pacific at the moment as I'm travelling 'anti clockwise'.

Carolyn, Kasey, our moderator, will schedule it, probably in the next few days, after the voting ends tomorrow.

Hi Carolyn - we will be doing the National Literature theme in May!
Hi Carolyn - we will be doing the National Literature theme in May!

Remember, after choosing one literature, we're going to nominate books, then vote for choosing the books to read.

Hi Carolyn - we will be doing the Nation..."
Thanks Kasey ( and Marcos) Half the fun is in the planning!

Well done, everybody!

And the winner is Japanese Literature! Thank you, voters. We will be reading Japanese Literature in May.

And as a matter of fact, this result is really a tie of three (statistically speaking).
Also, having over 70 members who want to read Dutch literature and over a hundred for German, both would practically make a group each! :-)
More important, I think the experience was very successful, and we should repeat it frequently!

It was 230 to 229... unfortunately if users delete their goodreads accounts their votes are removed from polls. I think that's what happened here...

Please don't judge my completely airhead question. ;)

Sorry no one answered you so far, but people don't usually get back to polls after they are closed.
By in the language you mean reading in Japanese?! If it is so, don't worry, that would be impossible for most of us out of Japan. We'll read Japanese Literature (for example, Haruki Murakami, Kenzaburo Oe, etc.), but some will read in English translations, like you, I'll read in a Portuguese translation, etc.
