If science one day evolves to the point where extended life or immortality becomes an option, would you want to live for hundreds or thousands of years, or even forever?

I guess I would choose another option and as previously mentioned, choose my own final retirement date. In the meantime, as long as there's tobacco (sadly) and caramel flavored vodka available, I'd be all set! Good question by the way....

Death is inevitable. I don't think there is any reason to stay longer than the time that has been set for you.
What if one day you awakened to realize you are awareness that transcends life & death. We are all awareness in presence and that awareness can be expanded beyond objective reality (i.e., Meditation & Magic Mushrooms). These experiences can be used to help you self-realize, help you live in presence, and help you attain Spiritual Immortality i.e., escape karmic rebirth. The ancient sun god religions figured all this out. So I would prefer spiritual immortality any day to misdirected science!!

You will be able to. Over and over. In virtual reality. Especially when it advances more and more you can live any life you want to.

Virtual Reality (VR) isn't something I've studied much, but it's really interesting.
Also, let's say for the sake of argument for a moment that we are living in a VR world right now, would we know if it's VR or do you think it's possible the simulation could become so advanced that we'd forget we are inside a simulated environment? :)

Most people have been doing that for thousands of years, via reincarnation.

We are fractals of Source and will not die. However, regarding our current bodies, old souls have the opportunity, in these higher frequency energies since the past few years, to youth instead of age. We can now live for hundreds of years. The only problem is our realities are shaped by our beliefs and it is difficult to get past our belief in mortality.
It seems rather unlikely that such a feat will ever take place. The science community isn't the most wholesome lot. And also, the resources that would be needed for that will soon all be gone, supposedly.
