Jody I've chosen Felicia Day's autobiography/memoir, which falls under Humour. I'm really looking forward to it - I loved her series The Guild, and she's fantastic in Supernatural. Plus, I play the violin and am a gamer too. :)

message 2: by Chelle_Rydz (last edited Nov 08, 2015 05:23PM) (new)

Chelle_Rydz I'm choosing Circling the Sun. I saw it at the library a few weeks ago and thought it looked interesting.

message 3: by Marina (new)

Marina I've chosen My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry by Fredrik Backman, which is nominated in the category Fiction. I read one of his other books this year and absolutely loved it, so this next book was already on my tbr-list for next year!

message 4: by Francesca (new)

Francesca I initially had no idea as there are so many books that have been nominated that I would love to read but I've also gone with Felicia Day's book! I adore her in Supernatural and I really love the work she does so I'm excited to read more about her!

message 5: by Chelle_Rydz (new)

Chelle_Rydz I went with Circling the Sun because I have already read, AND ADORED, Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things. I cannot recommend that book enough, along with her first, Let's Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir

Furiously Happy A Funny Book About Horrible Things by Jenny Lawson Circling the Sun by Paula McLain

message 6: by Eleanor (new)

Eleanor I'm going to read The Ice Twins - not my usual type of book!!

I wholeheartedly agree with you! I have read both books by Jenny Lawson and love them! I tell people all the time they should read them. Or listen to the audio book the author does a great job of reading her own book.

I need to vote twice in this poll. I have two books in mind for this week. Letters to the Lost: A Novel by Iona Grey which is nominated in the Historical Fiction category and The Night Sister by Jennifer McMahon which is nominated in the Horror category.

message 8: by Bam cooks the books (last edited Nov 12, 2015 09:15AM) (new)

Bam cooks the books I am planning to read a coming-of-age book that I hadn't heard anything about until the voting started: The Secret Wisdom of the Earth by Christopher Scotten: The Secret Wisdom of the Earth by Christopher Scotton

message 9: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Hi Ive just joined this group so I am a bit behind with it being week 3 but I hope to catch up with the other 2 weeks at some point.

For week 3 I have chosen The Ice Twins by SK Tremayne. I had already started it at the beginning of the week and was pleased to see it fit in with this weeks theme. Hope to finish by Saturday and hopefully be able to start on week 1.

Samantha.

message 10: by Zaz (new)

Zaz Samantha, the challenge will start on January 2016, for the moment we are just planning our books ;)

Youre a little early girly - challenge starts in 2016 :)

message 12: by Ashley (new)

Ashley I'm planning on reading all of the goodreads winners, but will likely read the mystery one first (assuming King doesnt win).

message 13: by Maple (new)

Maple I picked Welcome to Night Vale. I love the podcast and I'm really looking forward to Fink's book.

Welcome to Night Vale by Joseph Fink

message 14: by Marta (new)

Marta I usually can't decide which recent fiction book is good, so I am going with NeuroTribes: The Legacy of Autism and The Future of Neurodiversity or Gut: The Inside Story of Our Body's Most Underrated Organ. Both are an interest in my family.

message 15: by Luisa (new)

Luisa I will go with Elon Musk: Inventing the Future, Goodreads choice awards nominee in Science and Technology category

message 16: by L (new)

L I chose Did You Ever Have a Family as it was on the initial list but it has now gone, presumably knocked out in the previous round! I hope it is still eligible for Book #3 or do I need to change it?

message 17: by Zaz (new)

Zaz Yes Lisa, you can use all the nominated books (I think they will all appear again when the last votes are done).

message 19: by Zaz (new)

Zaz I decided to read A Darker Shade of Magic (fantasy).

message 20: by Michelle (new)

Michelle I'm going with Carry On

message 21: by Aglaea (new)

Aglaea I picked Sarah MacLean, romance, since I have so many non-fiction books on the list that I need to sandwich with lighter reading.

message 22: by Jean (last edited Dec 01, 2015 07:16AM) (new)

Jean Cole I chose A Little Life. Based on reviews, it's a little dark but I could have guess that from the cover! Looking forward to it!

message 23: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Brady I'll be reading "Why Not me?" by Mindy Kaling. It seems funny and light and a few of my other choices surrounding that week are heavier so I thought I'd try to lighten it up a bit.

message 24: by Francesca (new)

Francesca Just had to change my vote as I shuffled the memoirs that I'm planning to read around to different categories. For week 3 I shall be reading 'Modern Romance' which won for non-fiction, 'You're Never Weird On The Internet' is now down for my official memoir/autobiography topic, and 'Why Not Me' is now down for a book whose character is in a profession that interests me (this definitely still counts as far as I'm concerned).

message 25: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Marina H wrote: "I've chosen My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry by Fredrik Backman, which is nominated in the category Fiction. I read one of his other books this year and absolutely lo..."

Ditto :) I actually saw this book at Books-A-Million last month and thought it looked interesting.

message 26: by Therese (last edited Dec 10, 2015 02:19PM) (new)

Therese Brink I chose Beneath the Surface: Killer Whales, SeaWorld, and the Truth Beyond Blackfish. This is a topic I am very interested in, and I have gone up to Shedd Aquarium in Chicago with a group of people protesting their marine mammal show.

message 27: by Erica (new)

Erica I chose The Heart Goes Last, Margaret Atwood's new book, which was nominated for Science Fiction.

message 28: by Valerie (new)

Valerie I chose The Girl on the Train, as I have read about it. Since I read on a Kindle, I will put it on hold at my library and read it when I can get it.

message 29: by Mai (new)

Mai I'm planning on reading Red queen

message 30: by Aline (new)

Aline I'm going to read The Nightingale
