Chris Richards All of the above!
I'm kind of addicted to this site ha ha :).

message 2: by Storm (new)

Storm Arashi All of the above. Lately I've been trying to only add books when I've gotten them to a certain point. Otherwise the guilt REALLY piles on.

message 3: by mlady_rebecca (new)

mlady_rebecca Once again, you don't have enough choices available. I chose all of the above, but I don't do progress updates and sometimes don't add a book till I've finished it.

message 4: by Cora (new)

Cora Tea Party Princess All of the above :)

message 5: by Sarah (new)

Sarah All of the above- I'm quite the Goodreads addict ;)

message 6: by Savannah (last edited Apr 29, 2015 06:40AM) (new)

Savannah I'm with you, Chris and Sarah; I'm completely addicted to Goodreads. If I don't get onto my Goodreads account at least a couple times a day, something just doesn't feel right! :-)

message 7: by Shannon Elizabeth (last edited Apr 29, 2015 07:21AM) (new)

Shannon Elizabeth Heffner 100% all of the above and then some. There are other things I do on GR that weren't on the list of choices, such as: checking in on my favorite authors and seeing if there are updates to their personal blogs or news about their latest releases; group and buddy reads; finding links to books that are free or on sale; taking quizzes and making lists; just generally participating in threads with friends, etc. I could go on because there is a lot to do here! I love GR more than any other social media site. <3

message 8: by DJ (new)

DJ All of the above... Goodreads is my go to site for anything books. Discover new authors and to keep my collection in order, especially because nothing else is. :-P

message 9: by Kikki (new)

Kikki This poll was kinda glitchy for me. I voted on it like 10 times and it only just now put my answer through...

message 10: by pink (new)

pink (not just another shade of red) All of the above. My life is here, people!

message 11: by Anaee (new)

Anaee I'm kind of a Goodreads addict so, mostly all of the above...though I don't update my progress while reading a book anymore, except when I take a break to start a new one.

message 12: by Becky (new)

Becky I usually add books to my Currently Reading shelf when I start them, and always rate/review when I finish one - but I don't use GR to find books (at least not the recommendations or ads or sponsored ads that are disguised as recommendations) and sometimes I update my progress, and sometimes I don't.

message 13: by Sushi (new)

Sushi Almost all of the above would be more accurate. I add books when I start them, mark them when finished, and search Goodreads for new books, but I rarely update with my progress on a book.

message 14: by Winnow~ (new)

Winnow~ This poll was glitchy and wouldn't let me vote until I went to the actual link rather than the poll on the side of the main desktop screen, anyone know why?

Zombieslayer⚡Alienhunter I don't always to page updates, but I *almost* always add a book to my currently reading shelf when I start it.

message 16: by Judy (new)

Judy All of the above. I'd get a lot more reading done if I didn't spend so much time on Goodreads. LOL just love this site and the people I've had contact with on it.

message 17: by AH (new)

AH I don't always update my progress regularly, but I do sometimes, and I do all the other things, so all of the above.

message 18: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Couldn't vote all of the above, but I'm pretty diligent about marking both the start and completion of books (then adding a star rating).

But I virtually never bother updating my progress between those two points. And I find the suggestion engine here to be wonky enough I don't bother trying it to find new material; though I'll certainly note when my friends shelve books that look interesting.

message 19: by Mariya (new)

Mariya I do it all. Most of the time I add the book to my currently reading and I update the progress when I'm reading with status updates. Sometimes/ocassionally I will read the book and just add it to my read shelf. and etc. I' m on this site pretty often. =))

message 20: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Dang - this is not a multiple choice poll.

I use my Goodreads for when I finish reading a book, and for when I am looking for books to add to my Want to Read library.

message 21: by Kellie (new)

Kellie Shulruff I come to Good reads often. When I start a book and when I am finished to rate and review. I also like keeping up with my friends and what they are reading and to see their reviews and if its a choice I might also enjoy*S* THANK YOU!

message 22: by Zedsdead (new)

Zedsdead A, C, and D. But I don't update progress.

message 23: by Serena (new)

Serena I chose 'all of the above' but really I tend to add a book when I get to page 15 (or 50, for longer books), although that's often in my first sitting with it anyway; I only occasionally update progress as I read; and I don't often use Goodreads to look for new books specifically, just to keep track of ones I have come across elsewhere. And sometimes I find new ones via Goodreads in one of those processes. . .

message 24: by Heather (new)

Heather Some of the above - I mark it as currently reading when I start it, and come back to rate/review at the end, but I never update my progress while reading.

I voted at the "rate/review" stage since I always do that, and only about 90% of the time mark them as currently reading (it's a lot easier now that I have a a Kindle that has Goodreads integrated already so it asks if I want to mark it as soon as I start a new one!).

message 25: by Julie (new)

Julie Chris wrote: "All of the above!

I'm with you on that!

message 26: by Bianca (new)

Bianca Goodreads has really helped me get back my passion for reading with the challenge also helping me maintain a good steady momentum. I often visit the site just to read about books and author. Searching the site gives me the same joy I use to get from being in a library gazing at the shelves.

message 27: by Claire (new)

Claire All of the above! I use Goodreads as my reading log/journal, which I HAVE to have as my mother was a librarian! My love of reading came from her.

message 28: by Rand (new)

Rand WHEN CHOOSING TO SATIATE THE READING IMPULSE WITH PARA-TEXTS ALONE

message 29: by Julie (new)

Julie All of the above! This site us great for following my passion of reading. I find new really good books everyday to read and from following others on this book club site. My favorite!

message 30: by Morgan (new)

Morgan Elizabeth I have it up while I'm reading so I remember to update when I'm finished reading for that time period.

message 31: by Pietro (new)

Pietro B. I am not addicted even though this site is really interesting especially when i am searching new books to read.
Thriller and mistery are my piece of cake.
I am not a native english speaker or in this case reader so i need my time to complete my reading.
Anyone has suggestion ? I do prefer not too complicated writers but enhance my language learning is a good proof.
Thanks in advance.

message 32: by Janet (new)

Janet Had to vote All of the Above although I don't do status updates. I use goodreads for the other options and to keep up with the various groups/challenges I have joined.

message 33: by Cathy (new)

Cathy I tried to add a book while reading but could never figure out how to move it, so now I just wait until I finish it and add the book and review then.

message 34: by M. (new)

M. P. Picked "all of the above", though I don't usually come to GR to seek new authors and/or books to read.

message 35: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Not enough options - needs to be "choose what works" because I use it to find something new and when I've finished something.

message 36: by Gita (new)

Gita Ganesha i judge a book by goodreads ;)

message 37: by Df (new)

Df Agree with not enough options. Perhaps allow for multiple selection.

I use goodreads as a todolist for reading. When i need the next book, i come here, rate the one i just read and pick the next to read.

message 38: by Sandy (new)

Sandy olson Olson B and C, updates/progress updates annoying. and long winded reviews equally so.

message 39: by Ravi (new)

Ravi Sometimes people give up on a bad book - there should be a suspended shelf as well besides, 'currently reading', 'to read' and 'read'.

Shannon Elizabeth Heffner Ravi wrote: "Sometimes people give up on a bad book - there should be a suspended shelf as well besides, 'currently reading', 'to read' and 'read'."

I agree with you on that. Although it's rare for me to give up on a book (especially if I've paid full price for it) it does happen on occasion, and I'd like to have a separate status for those few books that I just couldn't get through. I'd also love a "re-reading" status. There are those books that I like to read every couple years and I think they deserve their own category. So, "currently reading", "to read", "read", "suspended", and "re-reading" is how I'd like to have it.

message 41: by Keith (new)

Keith Moser I chose all of the above, but it's really only A, B, & C... I have so many books already on my "To Read" pile that I don't have time to browse for new selections... Even my To Read list on goodreads is out of date/not very useful... I sort of used that as a "Oh that sounds interesting. I don't want to forget that book exists"

message 42: by Hal (new)

Hal This poll is problematic. Usually two or three answers would be most correct.

message 43: by Jonathon (new)

Jonathon I get on every day. Totes all of the above

message 44: by David (new)

David I don't review/comment much on books I've read because I normally update my progress every time I finish reading what ever number of pages I happened to have read at the time using the app on my phone.

The size of the screen limits very much what I can say & I find it very difficult to post anything of more than a few words of length as it also takes such a long time typing out on the phone one letter at a time (even if you do the same on the computer!)

As I read mostly in bad while waiting for my wife to wake up in the morning I find I don't have the time either.

message 45: by NIWAMANYA (new)

NIWAMANYA DESIRE All the above

message 46: by Danielle (new)

Danielle It's pretty much all of the above except the regularly updating my progress in a book. I don't really like doing that.

message 47: by Sooz (new)

Sooz I don't update my progress. Mark it when I start. Rate it when I'm done.

message 48: by NIWAMANYA (new)

NIWAMANYA DESIRE ya me too doesn't like rating my book.

message 49: by Ankit (new)

Ankit mlady_rebecca wrote: "Once again, you don't have enough choices available. I chose all of the above, but I don't do progress updates and sometimes don't add a book till I've finished it."

Similar here... checklist would have been better, so as to choose multiple options...

message 50: by Prashant (new)

Prashant You can't read a book until you know it exits, this site is really good way to know a book beforehand..
