The books, for sure. The movies were mediocre at best.

The books are poorly written. Good enough for children.

The books provide you greater info in the world of Harry Potter that no movie could show. If you prefer just the movie, then you don't truly want to know every piece of the Wizarding World and therefore are purely a muggle or half-blood at best.

The books for most of it, but a few of the characters were better developed on film than in the books imo.

Saw the movies before I read the books. Loved the movies, which are perfect for autumn. The books are more magical to read.
