Two of the books chosen are written by Rwandan writers: The Past Ahead (a first novel by the author) and Our Lady of the Nile (the author has written several books and won several awards). The other books are written by non-Rwandan authors but the stories take place in Rwanda.

That's correct. The important thing here is place; the author can be from anywhere in the world.

These books look so good! I don't think I'll have time to get into them though. :( I didn't vote, and if I did it was by accident, so disregard it. I don't want to skew the poll!

I have already read Baking Cakes in Kigali and it is wonderful. If you choose that book, you will be entertained. I suspect some of the others will be very depressing. As I sit here in Monrovia in the middle of the Ebola outbreak- I am not inclined to read something depressing (not that I actually have any time to read!), but since I have already read Baking Cakes in Kigali, I will put my vote elsewhere- and try to find the time to read whatever is chosen...

Hi N., the threads are the places where we have discussions about specific topics. For instance, this is a discussion thread just for the poll. Normally the threads are organized within "folders."
