Another tough one! :) I voted Highlander because I'm reading a book with a Scottish guy in it right now and that accent is totally swoony.
I know, right? This was a tough one for me too, I had to go with Gladiator though since there are so few gladiator books out there. :)
Maybe I should post more gladiator pics (to help sway the vote!) I mean, wouldn't you want to read about this guy? ;)

Have you read Spartan heart by Kristine Cheney? Two good books about a gladiator hero.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll go check them out. Are they clean reads? :)

Lol, that's some picture!

Ann- I agree, I don't like the violent aspect of it all. I am far from an expert on the topic, but I think at least in some cases the gladiators were slaves and forced to fight, which is just horrible. I'd like to think though that maybe there were more humane forms, more like our modern boxing or MMA fighting. Which is still violent, but more for sport and not for death or anything like that. I think Marcia could do an awesome job writing it with strong characters that have good values. It would be a hard one to write, trying to balance historical accuracy with more modern ideals.
I also think historically Highlanders were a pretty violent bunch as well. Maybe not to the extreme of Gladiators, but unfortunately no matter the time period there is always some form of violence. Marcia would be able to soften it though. Her books may have some violence, but they are always handled well and never the main plot. I think she'd be able to write a fun gladiator or highlander story that would focus on romance and not on violence. :)

A book with strong characters and good values sounds great to me. I know sometimes violence is necessary to protect people and keep them safe and for peace, that's realistic - I just don't like fight-to-the-death-violence for "entertainment".
I would definitely be interested in reading a story about a Highlander by Marcia Lynn McClure - I've not read much of hers yet, but absolutely love the kissing scenes I've read. :)
