What Parallax title do you want to read as a group next month?

I've added some suggestions to start, but you can write in your own suggestions if you so wish.

I picked 4 books below based on different topics that are of interest to our club members:

1. Health and sickness, memoir -- (Healing)
2. Animals, memoir -- (Zooburbia)
3. Thich Nhat Hanh on animals, nature, green living -- (Love Letter to the Earth)
4. Thich Nhat Hanh on peace in our violent society -- (Keeping Peace)

Remember, the book must be readable within 4 weeks (so it can't be too long nor too short), and must be currently in-print and published by Parallax Press.

The full list of possible books is below:

Jim Tillman I've read "Healing..." and it's an inspiring and deeply touching book.
"Love Letter to Earth" has been on my 'to read' list for some time.
Wonderful choices.
Not quite nirvana would also be a good choice further down the road

in gratitude

Jim

Alexa I added "Peace is Every Step," because it is one of the few/first books I've read on the topic of mindfulness, but I feel that I ironically did not stay very mindful while reading it, and would enjoy reading it again in order to really try and absorb its teachings. =)

Of the books in the poll, "Keeping the Peace" seems most interesting to me, though I'll be excited no matter which is chosen!

Lynne O'connell I am the same, I have Peace is Every Step on my bookshelf but have not done it justice. I also feel Healing would be very beneficial. Thank you for introducing new reads.

Parallax Press Mod
Thanks for your input, Jim, Alexa, and Lynne!

Yes, one of the other reasons this club was founded was to expose people to a variety of different kinds of books on mindfulness practice.

With Thay being such a prolific writer, many people aren't aware of his lesser known works that are underrated and just as wonderful as the classics!

Furthermore, there are many authors that have been influenced by him and touched by his teachings that often get overlooked as well, that are no less interesting and eye-opening.

No matter what we pick each month, eventually we will get to read your favorites -- classics, new releases, memoirs, sutra studies, practical guides, and everything in-between -- eventually!

Tim I voted Zooburbia because I've never read anything like it.

Tim Oh as a future teacher though, Keeping the Peace is also a great pick. Who am I kidding, they're all great picks.

message 7: by Erin (new)

Erin I like the idea of mindfulness and public service.

Sage Mcdonald I'd love to explore Love Letter to the Earth. During this time in our culture so much mindfulness is needed for us to truly take care of Mother Earth as she takes care of us. I for one do not always fully comprehend how to go about this and I feel this book would be wonderful to explore, especially with like-minded people who care about nature as much as I do!
