Hilary Mantel... hands down. Two straight Booker Prizes is tough to beat.

I'm a bit prejudiced I admit. I LOVED both of those books and eagerly await the concluding story. I have a couple of Gregory's books on my shelves but haven't read them yet.

I think Gregory's writing is more engaging, but Mantel's is more historically accurate.
I'll have to try one of PG's soon... I'm not that "up" on English history so I can't judge anyone's accuracy. I took an English history class in college. The text was "A Shortened History of England" by G.M. Trevelyan. Talk about fact-filled! The teacher came into the classroom and started talking and never stopped until the end of the period. Smoked non-stop too. Never took questions... I have to admit it's pretty interesting stuff though!
I saw on Facebook that Philippa Gregory may have had Corvid19. She has recovered but looked very bad.
