Christina Hey, four votes. I think that's the most my book has ever received!

K.K. Hey, Christina, which book did you choose? I am abstaining from the vote because I will not be able to participate in the discussion. I have "A Canticle for Leibowitz" and have read the first section of that book. The book by Clothier looks good to me too. And I'm not sure the "Married with Zombies" sounds like it fits with my area of interest.

I hope your book is chosen, and that the discussion goes well.

Christina Mine is Married with Zombies. It never wins. I nominate it now just out of principle. I originally nominated it because it is zombie humor and thought I'd offer something a little different. I found the series hilarious. And it has good marital advice, i.e. one partner should not have to kill all the zombies (paraphrased). It has been a long time since I read it so I thought I would nominate it. I'll eventually get to it on my own. I usually always participate no matter what book is selected.

K.K. I think zombie humor is an odd twist, maybe off-putting to some doomsday readers like me. In my mind, funny and apocalypse go together like putting water on your Lucky Charms cereal. It just doesn't fit. But I can appreciate good humor and can understand why it would appeal to you. I too think the workload for spouses should be 50-50. Killing zombies should be balanced, just like alternating whose turn it is to clean the toilet. :0

Christina Speaking of toilet, there's actually a scene where the toilet is the weapon, if I remember correctly. I guess may favorite part of the series is the bickering because that's how my husband and I would be. No matter what was going on, I think we'd still be bickering over stupid stuff. For example, even in a zombie apocalypse, we'd still bicker over whether or not (Blade Runner/Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep spoiler) (view spoiler). So I can relate a bit.

Christina BTW, I'm completely right. He is.

K.K. Ridley Scott backs you up on this assertion, Christina.

And my wife and I sweat the small stuff. It's the big stuff like vacations and money that we are in total aggreement about. Fifteen years this August. I just wish she would learn to put the seat down. So irritating.

message 8: by Christina (new)

Christina Ha ha. I think we were meant for each other because I honestly don't think anyone else would have put up with us. :)

message 9: by Sean (new)

Sean McLachlan The only reason I didn't vote for A Canticle for Leibowitz is because I've already read it. If you haven't, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy!

message 10: by Christina (new)

Christina Look at that. Six votes. I'm sure five are pity votes. My tactic is working! In a year or so, maybe it will win! :)

I vote for it as I want to read it. I think I have voted for it a couple of times now

message 12: by Gertie (new)

Gertie It's never going to win I don't think. It has had lots of opportunities, I just don't think the number will ever be in its favor. I do think a Read With Me would get some readers though.

message 13: by Christina (new)

Christina Yeah, when things slow down a bit I might do that.
