Greg Having acquired a secondhand copy of the third book in de Camp's The Reluctant King trilogy a couple of years ago, I thought I should actually get around to reading the first book in the series - The Goblin Tower by L. Sprague de Camp - this summer. I've had it unread on my shelves for some 20 years!

That said, I have a couple of unread Conan books - Conan by Robert E. Howard and Conan The Swordsman by L. Sprague de Camp - so my second choice would be Vintage Howard.

Greg, looks like your #2 is in the top two (Vintage Howard). Strictly speaking Conan the Swordsman is all pastiche, but the Conan anthology is half-Howard. Pastiches may be okay for the discussion too (assuming that topic wins).

I had no idea there the "Sword and Planet" vibe was so strong. This may be a good time to read one of REH's few Sword & Planet stories:

Almuric by Robert E. Howard

Greg I you end up with a tie, then use my second choice to break it! :) (And we're not talking about an item of clothing here....)

Jake For the last couple of years I've been savoring The Complete Chronicles of Conan--which I still have about 700 pages left.

I voted for Hell because I've read Heroes in Helland figured I could take place in the discussion for once. :) Since reading is part of my job, I rarely have time for pleasure reading any more. Luckily, I generally like what I need to read.
