poll:
Diane asked me to help organize the 2026 monthly reading challenge, and I’m happy to be here! Remember that this will replace the keyword challenge. Four options have been suggested by members, and it’s time to vote for your favorite.
1.
Geography
: Every month 2 letters will be randomly selected, and members will pick a book that takes place in a country or state starting with those letters. Diane shared a geographical breakdown of the list by country and state: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/632278-1001-books-around-the-world
2.
Publication Dates
: The list will be divided into 12 sections based on publication date and 1 section will be assigned each month, starting with newest and ending with the oldest section for most points.
3.
Combined Geography & Publication Dates
: This might be complicated, but likely it would be done by 1) picking a book from a country/state starting with the randomly generated letters, and it would have to be published within the assigned period. That might be too much, but it could be fun to try.
4.
Members’ Favorites
: Everyone submits the opposite of a TBR list – basically, a “Read and Loved” list of 24 titles. When the TBR number is generated for that month, you obviously have your own TBR book, but you can also get points for this challenge by reading a title from another member’s list. So if #3 is generated, you pick a #3 title from another member’s “Read and Loved” list.
Hopefully this makes sense but please let me know in comments or via private message if you have comments. If anyone has another option, also let me know.
Best to all!
