Even from this distance, I could make out dozens of stars running up and down his heavily muscled arms, all different sizes, before disappearing under the fabric. Stars in between – I squinted – were they planets? Words? Squiggles?
“Starlight, star bright, you were the first star I saw tonight. Wish I may, wish I might, have this kiss with you tonight.” He smiled, nervously, “I changed the words a little.”
A shiver flew down her side as my thumb brushed over the tiny hand-drawn thundercloud and lightning bolt, sitting to the right under her left boob; over her heart. I might be covered in her, but this was all me. “You’re not the only one with a tattoo,” she whispered.
I’m not dead, Marn. I’m alive and kicking, and I live for loving you. Maybe I could have made a better choice back then, but so could you. I can’t change the past, but I can make sure our future has us living it together.”
