When would these two understand he wanted to honor God—and that was the only way to happiness?
They didn’t know how wrong things could go when a human chose his own path.
If he’s here looking for forgiveness, this might be a chance for you to give it—both to him and yourself. God doesn’t want us to spend years buried under guilt. Jesus came to set us free from condemnation.”
There are consequences for our choices, but everyone around us acts like there aren’t. We’ve got to do each other the favor of speaking up when no one else will.”
Jesus Christ died so that God can forgive us when we repent. Free and clear.”
“I’m still a sinner. But I’m forgiven.
“If you’re trapped in some effort at doing penance, you’re wasting your time and your potential. It’s not what God wants for you,
But once she hits bottom, maybe she’ll be ready.” “To do what?” “Come to Christ. She’s a seeker.”
“When God does change her, it’ll be a testimony that reaches far and wide.”
“You can’t always help what the people around you do.”

“Sin is ugly, Adeline, but the truth coming out is not the worst thing that could happen to me. The truth is that God is better than all our sin. Even if it doesn’t make us look good, owning up to our mistakes showcases how great the grace of God is. We can’t be afraid of facing that,
“God’s grace is better than we can comprehend, and He is in the business of redeeming and bringing good from even the worst situations.”
Forgiveness doesn’t cancel consequences, but the opposite is also true. Consequences don’t mean we’re not forgiven. When we’re covered in grace, we don’t have to walk around in shame anymore.”
your history is forgiven.”
“What?” “I assumed you thought you were right with God.” “I am. I just …” His hand covered hers. “You’re not, Addie, and I think you know it. That passage is about who gets to be with God eternally and who doesn’t. If it leaves you unsettled, you must feel some degree of separation that even you sense is a problem.”
“The clean heart passage and this one are both in the same psalm. Psalm 51. David wrote it after having Uriah killed to cover up what he’d done with Bathsheba.”
You need to be grounded in God before you go chasing anything else.
“What if God is better than you know, Adeline? What if He’s perfect and forgives perfectly?”
