The teaching of the Church, as it comes to us in the doctrine of the triune God, means at bottom renouncing any solution and remaining content with a mystery that cannot be plumbed by man. In truth this profession of faith is the only real way to renounce the arrogance of “knowing all about it”, which makes smooth solutions with their false modesty so tempting.
