Since the real message that he brings is not a doctrine but his very person, we must of course add that this “I” of Jesus refers absolutely to the “Thou” of the Father and is not self-sufficient; rather, it is indeed truly a “way”. “My teaching is not mine” (Jn 7:16). “I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me” (Jn 5:30).
