And always, my head hurt from thinking these things—a pounding, searing, real pain, not like the physical pain of a headache, but an intense throbbing inside my skull someplace; sound waves. There were days that I feared that my brain was actually heating up and might explode. I visualized brain matter flying all over the room, spattering the walls.
